Villa Mouria, our treasured villa in Greece! A south-oriented villa with much more space that you will commonly find. A villa with fantastic views, close to the local beach. And, importantly, a villa with a modest CO2 footprint, thanks to solar panels and solar boiler. A few stairs up from the entrance, you arrive in the top-level living, with a phenomenal view of the islands in the Ionian see and the mainland mountains. The living has a spacious sitting area, a dining area for 8 persons, and a well-equipped open kitchen. Large sliding doors provide access to a pergola-covered terrace, perfect for playing one of the available board games, or reading a book (perhaps from the villa’s book collection). Play your music on the soundbar below the smart tv to create your favourite atmosphere! When entering the spacious top=level master bedroom, you are faced with a tough choice: absorb the same magnificent views from bed, from the private pergola-covered balcony, or from the rain shower in the semi-open bathroom. The bottom level contains a second bathroom and the third toilet, bedroom 2 that has a double bed and a bunk bed, accommodating 4, and bedroom 2 accommodating 2. Both bedrooms provide access to a covered terrace, and offer nice views of the garden, the olive trees below and the mountains in the distance. All double beds are high-quality box-spring beds. The large outdoor kitchen has a fridge, a BBQ and another 8-person dining area. At any time of the day, you can choose between sun and shadow. The swimming pool area has an outdoor shower, teak sunbeds, poufs, some pool toys and a lounge set, providing for a relaxing time for young and old. At the bottom of the garden you will find another terrace under a big old mulberry tree (“Villa Mouria”!), where you might enjoy a lemon squash in the shadow during daytime, and enjoy a cocktail in the evening sun. Looking through the olive trees below the garden, you can catch a glimpse of the sea.

We, Petra (health care) and Knoek (science), came to know the Ionian during a sailing holiday. What a great region! And so different from our home in the Dutch polders. Pogonia stole our hearts, and we are very proud of Villa Mouria, that was designed in line with our ideas and that was built in 2019. Located in the most fertile region of Greece, a region with lots of nature and culture, Villa Mouria was designed and built in a modern style in 2019. Together with the neighbouring villa, it is located between the houses of a typical Greek village. Take a leisurely 10-minute walk to the local beach and have a swim, snorkel around the rock formations, or relax in the sun! Fancy a more lively area? At just 2 km you will find a gigantic beach with lots of water sports and several welcoming beach bars. In Pogonia, within 10 minutes walking from Villa Mouria, you will find lovely authentic bars and restaurants with great food, where the owner will soon recognize you. A 10 minute drive takes you to Paleros, a harbour town with a marina, a yacht club, a tennis club, boat rentals, rentals of bikes, scooters and cars, several supermarkets, and bars and restaurants to every taste. Don’t forget to have a stroll in the area around the harbour and have a coffee somewhere, just like the local Greeks! A 30 minute drive takes you to Lefkas and Preveza, famous for both their beaches and their cultural heritage … and to Aktion Airport. Finally, a 3 hour drive takes you to the mountaineering village of Metsova in the Pindos mountains, and to the hanging monasteries of Meteora (a UNESCO world heritage site!). Speaking for ourselves, there are always new things to discover in the region around Pogonia!
