Welcome to Candidasa, a seaside village located in East Bali. The perfect place to get away from the crowds and enjoy your days by the seaside and eating in any of the many beachfront restaurants and locally owned warungs. Candidasa has a very connected village feel and the local Balinese are very welcoming of visitors and guests. They will appreciate your support during your stay. A short stroll to Restaurants and cafes, Art and gift shops and small convenience stores. Reputable money changer across the road, ATM right next door to the Temple Cafe to the left and an external Laundry service and a fabulous dressmaker just a 100m down the street. Tenganan village, approximately 5 km uphill from Candidasa, is known as the best preserved Bali Aga (original Balinese) village, which is still inhabited by descendants of its original villagers. Traditional crafts, like weaving and making lontar (drawings on palm leafs) are still practiced. Padang Bai, a small village about 15 km south-west of Candidasa, has a white sandy beach, where the fisherman "park" their fishing boats after the morning catch. The ferries to Lombok leave from the main harbor. Kusamba harbour is only 30 minutes away and has the fast boats leaving Dalit for Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan Goa Lawah, the bat cave, 20 minutes from Candidasa, is an important religious place for the Balinese people. The crowded cave, inhabited by thousands of bats, is believed to protect Bal from evil spirits and rumors go the tunnels reach as far as the Gunung Agung. On the highest point of the road from Candidasa to Amlapura you can't miss the monkeys of Sang Hyang Ambu Temple along the road to Amlapura, the capital of the Karangasem Candidasa district is located about 15 km north-east of Candidasa.
