Bantry, at the head of the bay, is a busy market town and fishing port. The town offers numerous activities for our visitors, including 2 golf courses, Bantry Golf Club, an 18-hole course and Glengarriff Golf Club. For walking, cycling, fishing, West Cork sailing and water sports or for just relaxing, Bantry and the South-West has always been one of the most popular tourist destinations. Market day in Bantry takes place every Friday where you can meet the locals and taste some of the finest organic produce Bantry and its surrounding areas have to offer. There is an abundance of award winning restaurants in Bantry town centre, situated around the Wolf Tone plaza. Take some time to explore Bantry Town and take a leisurely walk around, walk up town to Bridge Street to see the old Water Wheel by the Library. Whiddy Island lies in the beautiful Bantry Bay, just a short ferry crossing from Bantry town making it a popular spot for a day trip. The island's climate, like other parts of South West Cork is influenced by the Gulf Stream creating a unique ecology and wealth of wildlife.
