About the Host – Bishnujyoti Mudoi Bishnujyoti Mudoi is a native son of Majuli, born and brought up on this sacred river island, deeply connected to its soil, culture, and spiritual heritage. His journey into the heart of Majuli’s satra tradition began at the age of four, when he came to Kamalabari Satra during the time of Late Narayan Chandra Gowsami, the revered Satradhikar of Natun Kamalabari Satra. From his earliest days, Bishnujyoti grew under the care, teachings, and guidance of Kamal Chandra Baruah, the present Satradhikar, who played a pivotal role in shaping his values, discipline, and understanding of the satra way of life. Growing up within the serene and disciplined atmosphere of the satra, he had the unique opportunity to interact with countless travellers—both domestic and foreign—who visited Majuli in search of culture, spirituality, and peace. Inspired by their experiences and encouraged by their words, Bishnujyoti decided to create a space where guests could truly experience the warmth, tradition, and simplicity of Majuli. This inspiration led him to establish his homestay, located right beside the entrance gate of Natun Kamalabari Satra. Built within his own premises, the homestay reflects his heartfelt desire to welcome visitors into his world and offer them an authentic Majuli experience. Bishnujyoti is a passionate travel enthusiast, and his greatest hobby is serving guests with sincerity and joy. His deep roots in Majuli’s culture—its satriya heritage, traditions, and everyday life—make him not just a host, but a cultural bridge for travellers who wish to understand Majuli from the inside. At his homestay, every guest is welcomed not just with hospitality, but with the warmth of Majuli’s soul.
