Casa Castanea – A Family Project with Heart We are Casa Castanea – a German-Sicilian family project filled with love. We’re a couple with two children and an elderly Chihuahua-Pekingese mix, living between Lake Constance in Germany and the beautiful island of Sicily. When we discovered this historic house in the center of Trecastagni, it was love at first sight – thanks to its charm, soaring vaulted ceilings, and unbeatable location right on the piazza. Casa Castanea is our one and only vacation rental, and we care for it personally with great attention to detail. Our goal is to create a warm, authentic place where our guests can truly feel at home. We speak fluent German and English, but we’re still learning Italian – and always do our best to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay for every guest.

Etna Views & Room to Relax – 100 m² of Comfort Casa Castanea is located on the second floor of an 18th-century manor house, right on the central piazza in the heart of Trecastagni. This spacious apartment offers 100 m² of living space, including two bedrooms (each with a private bathroom), a cozy dining room, a compact kitchen, and two balconies with views of Mount Etna and the lively village square. Historic vaulted ceilings, tall windows, and lots of natural light give the apartment its unique charm. It’s ideal for 4 guests (up to 6 for shorter stays). Fast Wi-Fi is available. Please note: Access is via an outdoor spiral staircase – the apartment is not wheelchair accessible. Pets are not allowed. Fun Fact: The piazza in front of the house was once the property's private vineyard – the very place where wine once grew that you now enjoy nearby.

Casa Castanea is located in the heart of Trecastagni, a charming village on the slopes of Mount Etna. Thanks to its elevated position, the town enjoys fresh mountain air and beautiful views of the volcano. Right outside the door, you’ll find cafés, delicatessens, a wine shop, restaurants, and a supermarket. Most cafés stay open late – perfect for a late-night espresso or a glass of wine. Trecastagni is an ideal base for exploring eastern Sicily: Mount Etna is just 10 minutes away by car, Catania about 20 minutes, and the airport around 30 minutes. Popular destinations like Taormina, Naxos, Noto, and Syracuse are also easy to reach. Hiking enthusiasts will love the nearby trails on and around Mount Etna. Nature lovers can explore chestnut forests, lava fields, and unique volcanic landscapes. On Thursdays, the local market offers fresh produce and regional specialties. Trecastagni is not a tourist town, but a lively Sicilian village full of local charm, friendly people, and relaxed atmosphere. A rental car is recommended. Free public parking is available just behind the house.
