The core of our business is an architecture firm Fujioka Architecture Laboratory, which has been renovating Machiya and old folk houses for many years. Machiya has many wonderful features that are not found in apartments or newly built houses. The warmth of a house made of natural materials such as wood and soil. The comfortableness created by the gentle connection between the house and the garden, the inside and the outside. The spirituality that dwells in the house that continues to repair and use only the parts that have deteriorated. Nowadays in Japan, even in Nara that is one of most historical cities in this country, traditional buildings such as Machiya are being demolished one after another. We want to preserve traditional Japanese buildings for future generations. We would like people who have never lived in a Machiya to know the goodness of living in a Machiya. "Kidera no ie" was born in 2011 with this thought in mind.
