The building features Japanese-style architecture, but its modern Japanese design avoids feeling dated, so you can relax and enjoy your stay. There is also a Japanese garden where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and autumn foliage. An adjacent bamboo grove provides a beautiful borrowed landscape view. Facilities include a mist sauna in the shared bath. Shared laundry facilities with a large gas dryer allow you to wash and dry your laundry in about an hour. Traditional Culture At Ryū Shrine (Kyūō Ryū Shrine) in Kyūō, the “Ship-Based Human Tower Lion Dance” is performed annually during the May Grand Festival. This is an extremely thrilling traditional performance where a fishing boat (or lion boat) is floated on the sea, and the human tower lion dance (a performance where people stand atop each other's shoulders) is performed on it. The lion dance features advanced techniques like the three-tier and four-tier dances, leaving a strong impression on spectators. This Ryū Shrine is also featured on Imabari City's “Lion Dance Map” and holds significance as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Ryū Shrine is a venerable shrine deeply rooted in the local community. It is associated with the worship of the water deity (dragon god) and serves as a place to pray for safe voyages, abundant fishing, and bountiful harvests. Additionally, the Kūō Jizō Hall is located in the area and has been revered as a pilgrimage site. Nature & Scenery The Kūō area faces the sea, offering a picturesque region with quiet, tranquil coves. The local coastline and rocky shores boast beautiful natural scenery, perfect for leisurely walks. The nearby Kamoike Coast is a stunning viewpoint spot. Climbing Tobigarasuyama Mountain provides panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea islands and the Shimanami Kaido.
