I loved everything. This place is definitely one of the top 10 I ever stayed in. I would highly recommend it. It's really a spot that's amazingly difficult to leave. I'll be back though 🥰

Love what they are doing here for the horses. They even provided drinking water and electricity for the tents. They loaned me a bicycle to ride into the city which made the location very accessible.

We rented a basic tent just for one night and didn't expect much, but the place is so nice and it has everything you need. I wouldn't mind staying there for longer.

Perfect location just outside of town and a very comfy stay. Well-managed and I'd definitely come back here in the future. Free water refills (which I often forgot about) as well which seems quite rare in these parts of SE Asia.

Company info

Saita Aurore KIATIKHEMA, who has French and Laotian heritage, has been living in Laos since 2017. She has significant experience since she was a child, and has also studied sports studies, horseback riding, agronomy, farm management and tourism passed her diplomas in France. She has had a love for horses since she was a child and was excited to discover that Laos had its own small horse breeds that were not well cared for by the local ethnic groups. Her first purchase of a horse was a surprise when her Laotian aunt Bounleua introduced her to a farmer who owned two small Hmong horses near the Champassak district in southern Laos. She ended up buying one of the foals from the farmer that same day as he did not want to keep the foal not knowing what to do with it.

Welcome to NamKhan Horses Stables! We are Chris & Saita, expatriates who have called Luang Prabang home for several years now. We're excited to invite you to experience the serene Lao countryside and explore the historic city center of UNESCO Luang Prabang city, all while supporting our meaningful project: caring for our five rescue Hmong horses. Established in 2019, the stables were originally part of The NamKhan Resort, just a few meters away. We are now located just before the charming Ban Donkeo Village, renowned for its traditional bamboo weaving and basketry, our stables offer a unique opportunity to connect with local culture and nature. We are deeply passionate about our horses and the community around us, and we hope your stay will exceed your expectations. Whether you’re riding through lush landscapes or exploring nearby villages, your support helps us continue our mission of caring for these beautiful animals. We are the very first horse riding school in Luang Prabang, built and developed by Mrs. Saita with the dedicated help of local horseman's and volunteers. We have created a strong reputation in the community and encourage riders to grow in confidence while having fun in a safe environment. We have open our doors and now offer camping options for you to enjoy our beautiful serene property. We hope you'll enjoy your stay with us!
