The apartment is tucked away down a safe, quiet, leafy lane. At the same time, if you want to experience the very colorful hustle and bustle of Colombo all you have to do is walk two minutes up the lane to Narahenpita junction (Colombo 5) to watch hot hot hoppers and kotthu roti being made at a neighborhood cafe or the pawn broker negotiating a "good" price for a gold ring or the local barber shaving a beard while discussing politics or various vendors trying to sell everything from lottery tickets to fresh fruits to commuters lined up at the bus stand and train station or devotees lighting lamps at a quiet temple under a huge Bo tree. The apartment is located a few minutes from supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals and places of worship of all major religions. Major tourist attractions like Independence Square, Bandaranaike Memorial Hall, the Colombo Golf Club and the Beach Wadiya (serving fresh, scrumptious seafood on the beach) are minutes away. There is plenty of public transport just a matter of seconds away. The lane is off one of the main roads in Colombo and very close to a major intersection. Taxis and "tuk tuks" - three-wheelers - are on call and can be secured within a few minutes. Most major restaurants deliver. The airport highway leads directly to "Baseline Road/Elvitigala Mawatha." The lane is situated off this major road. The easiest mode of transport from the airport would be by taxi. There are plenty available for fixed prices. Travel time will be approximately 30-45 minutes depending on time of day.
