Meet Your Host – Harsheni Rathnayake
Hello! I’m Harsheni Rathnayake, the co-owner and host of Swarnavilla Yala. I’m a 31-year-old Sri Lankan female entrepreneur and a proud graduate of one of Sri Lanka’s renowned universities, holding a degree in Business Management. Swarnavilla Yala is a women run property and I’m committed to creating a space where guests feel safe, comfortable and genuinely welcomed.
I’m fluent in English and truly enjoy connecting with people from different cultures and countries. Hospitality is not just my work, it’s my passion. I love serving guests, listening to their stories and sharing the beauty of Sri Lankan nature and traditions.
I’m also deeply inspired by wildlife. Elephants, tuskers and leopards hold a special place in my heart but i love all animals and living near Yala has only strengthened that bond. In my free time, you’ll often find me cooking, experimenting with local flavors, reading a history book or exploring the nature surrounding the villa.
As your host, my goal is to make your stay memorable, peaceful and full of warm Sri Lankan hospitality. I look forward to welcome you to Swarnavilla Yala & share a lil piece of nature's magic with you.
Swarnavilla Yala sits on the peaceful Yala - Situlpawwa Temple Road, where village life, nature and history come together beautifully. Our villa opens into a natural jungle like area where you might spot elephants, peacocks, deer, monkeys and many birds right from your room or garden. It’s like having a little piece of Yala in your backyard!
The neighborhood is quiet, safe and filled with warm, welcoming people. We’re just a short drive from Yala National Park, making safari trips super easy. It offers a world class wildlife encounters including elephants, sloth bears and leopards. The famous Situlpawwa Ancient Temple, one of the region’s most important historical sites is on the same road, so your journey there is both scenic and full of wildlife.
