Merzouga, located 350 miles/560 kilometers east of Marrakesh, is situated in a relatively remote area. The closest major city is Errachidia. If you wish to avoid the lengthy drive from Marrakesh, an alternative option is to fly into Moulay Ali Cherif Airport in Errachidia via Royal Air Maroc. From there, it's a two-hour drive to Merzouga. For those seeking a more budget-friendly choice, CTM and Supratours operate overnight buses between Fez and Merzouga, as well as a long bus route from Marrakesh to Merzouga. Furthermore, numerous tour companies offer comprehensive itineraries departing from Marrakesh and Fez. These tours typically include a knowledgeable guide, various organized activities, 4x4 transportation, and often span several days. While three-day tours are popular, if possible, consider opting for a four or five-day tour to allow for more time to appreciate the desert scenery.
