Company information
Hi, my name is Nicole and I will be your host here together with my partner Oscar. I am originally half dutch and half English and my partner Mexican. I have lived in the Riviera Maya since 2007, so I really know all the surroundings. My uncle was the one who started this property in 98 and I came in 2020 to take over the management when he passed away. We live onsite here with our two sons and three dogs, two of our dogs are bigger called Apollo and Eros, our guardians for healing and Love. The most important thing for us is to conserve the nature, therefore we only have a very few accommodations option so you can actually enjoy the surroundings.
I have worked in hospitality all my life and it is just such a pleasure to make sure your stay here is as enjoyable as possible. I will be happy to make arrangements for any special occasions, to organise a massage, to inform you on any activities around or to help give you with ideas for other places to visit during your travels. Feel free to contact me before your stay with any questions or arrangements.
Property information
Cavelands is a magical place, where you can stay in a typical mayan Cabin and experience to be part of the beautiful jungle we have here filled with birds, butterflies, iguanas, spider monkeys and more jungle life. The windows are mosquito nets and lets you hear all the sounds the jungle can provide you. The site is quiet big 2 hectares, where we have a private cenote together and a big space for Yoga and meditation. We have three different fireplaces so you can actually enjoy the warmth of the fire under the stars. If you want to have a more spiritual experience then we all have a temazcal (min. 6 people). A temazcal is a sweat lodge where you enter Mother Earth womb and work on the different elements to be reborn again. Of course, we are called cavelands due to the three different caves on site, one private cavern at cabaña Balam, one with a hammock and a new one which is kind of smaller. We thrive to make your experience the best possible here and for you to feel home away from home. Best to describe your experience here is that you become one with nature.
Neighbourhood information
Chemuyil is a very small village only 8 streets in total, everyone is really friendly. You will find a few small supply shops for the basics and drinks and 4 restaurants with great food at a reasonable price. It is only 12 minutes walking from our property, they also offer a public transportation service called colectivos which runs between Playa del Carmen and Tulum and come by every 5/10 minutes between 7 am till 11 pm.
The most beautiful attraction here is the beach called Xcacel, which is a santuory for the turtles and a virgin beach for us to visit. As this beach is protected by an institute we do pay an entrance fee of 112 pesos pp, but here you can actually experience what the beaches used to be like as a true paradise!
We also have three cenotes in the surroundings, which are completely free to visit, you can use our two bikes and we offer snorkel gear for free.
You can also find the village of Akumal at a 15 min drive, where they have a Bay Area to snorkel with the turtles in their own habitat. Or to snorkel in the Laguna called Yalku, where the water of the cenotes mixes with the sea water.
