Adrian and Margaret extent a warm invitation to Kohinui Glade Holiday Cottage. Our modern holiday cottage has been fitted with quality furniture and is equipped with all modern conveniences. It is a short distance from the main road in the rural area of Parua Bay (halfway between Whangarei and Whangarei Heads). This tranquil cottage nestled among mature native trees and stunning views offers a true relaxation for the weary traveler and visitor. Be away from it all. Listen to the native birds, or get up close with the our tame alpacas and feed them out of your hand. Kohinui Glade is privately situated and secure. Access is gained through an electric automated gate. The cottage has a security alarm. Guest are free to walk around the property and there is a short, easy bush walk on the native forest trail. Please take note that the spa can be out of order due to maintenance as health and safety for our guests is absolute paramount. We endeavour to have the spa ready but sometimes (rarely) it takes time to change the water or adjust the water condition. Thanks for your understanding.

Margaret and myself are more then happy to answer all of your questions and assist where we can. Margaret is a biologist with an extensive knowledge of our local native plants and animals. She also speaks various languages including fluent English, Dutch, conversational German and French and basic Spanish & Mandarin Chinese. We can also help you with information, planning & booking activities. You ask and we will endeavor to give you the best holiday possible.

The area is a "Kiwi conservation area". Therefore domestic animals are restricted to protect our unique New Zealand Kiwi bird. In the surroundings you can hear the sounds of native bird wild life, specifically tui's, fantails, grey warblers, native wood pigeons and more. At night the possibility of the cry of the morepork echoing through the valley and not to mention the occasional possum. Further towards the Whangarei Heads you can find good beaches for swimming and surfing e.g. Ocean Beach. Furthermore there are beautiful nature walks, from easy to advanced, e.g. the Pataua South tracks, Smugglers Bay, a climb up Mt Manaia, Mt Aubrey and the Te Araroa National Walkway. Whangarei is the center for Northland in "the Winterless North". There is always plenty to do. There are several farmer markets, the Town Basin with it's cafes and restaurants, a marina, museums, botanical gardens and much, much more. Whangarei has good connections by car and bus, and an airport with a direct connection to Auckland. Welcome to our paradise.
