Riverlea Cottage is a comfortable 1920s 4 bedroom house with lots of Art on the walls and a nice home-life feel. It is 2km from Cafes and next to a public reserve (paddocks) and 150 metres fro the Wanganui river where guests can catch trout. The Cottage has a modern Kitchen & bathroom with good shower, comfy beds, WIFI, Netflix, Pool Table, lots of Board games, Dart Board and Barbeque with outdoor seating and off-street parking. The house retains its original character and has lots of heating and is warm and quiet protected from train noise by an embankment - a problem in other parts of town.... Perfect for guests visiting town for work Contractors, Skiing, Fishing, Timber trail, Forgotten World Adventures, Kayakers, Cyclists and Art Lovers. When you arrive we'll meet you and show through the cottage to ensure you are settled in and comfortable. We can also in some instances can shuttle you to either the Timber Trail or Mountain for a small additional fee (four guests per trip)

The house is in a quiet street and has pleasant and rural views from the front porch. It looks over open paddocks and the River you can get to 150 metres away by just climbing the fence. Usually there are no animals in the paddocks. There is also a walkway that runs along side the river for the length of Taumarunui 5km making a pleasant stroll. The house is situated about 2km from the centre of town. Most of the houses on the street and surrounding area are a similar vintage to our cottage and well kept. It is a country town so does have a different feel than the suburbs in the city. Neighbours: On one side we have a quiet single woman in her 40s renting the other side the house burned down about 10 years ago and the family moved to Melbourne but still retain the section. The sleep out/Garage at the back remains (empty) and the son who remains occasionally comes down to maintain the property. Behind us we have families with young Children - they are pretty quiet. The only downside is the house two doors down owned by an elderly couple who are hoarders. He is a very interesting slightly eccentric retired engineer (very bright) and she a retired nurse both quiet friendly.
