The German-born owner lives in Portugal since almost three decades. After a long career as international development consultant and in building construction, she felt in 2008 that it was time for a change. The idea was born to convert the private property into a place that offers people to take a break from the urban pace of life and revitalize by getting in touch with nature, without missing modern comfort. Since “SELÃO DA EIRA - Turismo Rural no Alentejo”was founded in 2009, she is dedicated to contribute to a local development that preserves nature and creates benefits also for the local people. With the spirit and experience of her original profession, she worked over the last 15 years to create an ecology-oriented nature tourism with accommodation and open-air recreation in a unique blend of local culture and cosmopolitan style and with caring hospitality. And she took the extra challenge to get as many of the houses as possible, a swimming pool and large parts of the recreation facilities, the esplanade, the minigolf and a forest trail truly accessible and wheelchair-friendly.
