We are a multinational family of four with two teenagers—Canadian father and Italian mother—who have lived in different countries and have now chosen to settle in Portugal and Madeira. We love it here for its peacefulness, the simple pleasures of family life, and the beauty of nature. The village is wonderfully calm and peaceful, offering a wonderful escape that’s great for slow mornings, great hikes, and simply enjoying the stillness. There are several pleasant restaurants in the area offering friendly service and good food. For those who love walking and nature, the area is surrounded by a network of roughly 12 scenic trails (according to AllTrails) that pass near the house, making it a great base for challenging hikes.
