The House: Spanning 278 sqm with a 300 sqm garden, our home is designed to offer both private and shared spaces for a comfortable stay. Local Charm: Located in a charming small fishing village, The Handmade House embraces the unique features of Azorean village life. Situated next to the local church, you’ll hear the traditional church bells ringing every hour. This practice has been a part of local culture for generations. Many guests find the bells charming, but if you think this might be disruptive, our guest house may not be the perfect spot for you. The roads are narrow, and vehicles often use their horns to signal their presence. Additionally, local vendors drive through the village in vans selling meat, fruit, vegetables, bread, and clothes. Each van has its own distinctive honk, so residents know who is passing by. While many guests appreciate this traditional aspect of Azorean life and the vibrant character of the village, others may find the sounds and activity disruptive. Please note that this lively atmosphere is a common feature throughout the region, not just in Porto Formoso. ### Welcome to Your Azorian Nest! Hello! We’re Deborah and Davide, a young Italian-Brazilian couple, and we’re delighted to welcome you to the Handmade House—our dream come true. We lovingly renovated this property ourselves over about 10 months, transforming it into a cozy retreat for travelers. Although we don’t live on-site, our nearly 2-year-old son Diego and our busy schedules keep us away from arranging in-person check-ins, which we would have loved to do. However, we ensure that every morning, we’re on hand to clean the rooms and common areas. This is a great time for us to meet our guests, offer local tips, and ensure you have a wonderful stay.
