A good place to start exploring the history and culture of the region is the Nova Gorica railway station and the Solkan railway bridge, the largest stone arch bridge in the world. Another option for diving into the past is Sabotin hill, with trenches and caverns built by the Austro-Hungarian and Italian armies in WWI.
