Villa Tara is nestled on a hillside with great views of Kalkan bay and surrounding mountains. It has it's own swimming pool in a beautifully maintained garden with a dining area. The spacious downstairs has a lounge, kitchen and utility room with washing machine and toilet. The first floor has two double bedrooms with en-suite toilets and showers and shared balcony. Up some more stairs there is a large balcony with seating and dining area and stunning views of Kalkan bay and mountains. There is a spiral stone staircase leading to the first and second floor. The ground floor has a large kitchen and lounge with a sofa as well as a kitchen bar. The villa has air conditioning througout. There are two French window/doors that lead to the pool and garden area. The front door is accessed through a porch. The bedrooms have window/doors that lead onto a shared balcony with table and chairs and great views of the bay and mountains. The balcony area is up another flight of stairs. This large area has canvas shading. This large area has canvas shading and sofa and chairs. The night time view of the lit-up bay is spectacular from here. There is wifi throughout the villa.

Jeremy has spent many years working in the humanitarian aid sector predominantly working in east and southern Africa. He set up his own charity 30 years ago and is beginning to step down from some of his roles. He has also worked in parallel as a jazz musician (saxophonist) based in London and this is taking up more of his time these days. He has two grown up daughters and lives in north London. Interests are keeping fit, reading, films and he loves coffee. He fell in love with Kalkan about 20 years ago while on a last minute holiday there.

Although there are villas on above and to one side of the villa, it is a very quite location and a great place to get some peace. It is about a 20 minute walk down to Kalkan town and the beach (about 25 minutes back up the hill). Car hire is useful but not essential a taxis are unbelievably cheap in Kalkan. If you walk up three flights of stairs from the villa you will find a great restaurant serving cheap local foods. There are also some shops up there including a supermarket. If you drive up the mountain you come across some of the most spectacular mountain views you will see in Europe. The mountains are huge (snow-capped about 5 months of the year) and breath-taking. If you drive to villages like Goombe and Elmali you can stay over and experience real Turkish life. Apart from Kalkan village/town which has many great restaurants and the lovely uncrowded beach which is mainly used by locals - especially in the morning, there are countless options to travel a bit further afield. You can book a range of tours in Kalkan village - all well worth it. You can hire a boad and do a midnight cruise with fantastic food and swimming. You can see a variety of 'old ruins' like Xantos.
