This was a brilliant find. So much character, peace and relaxation. Riverside location and views to the forested hills. Also the history is genuinely interesting; the house was built by a noted Civil War era builder of covered bridges and Beverly...

We loved the location, the decor, and the attention to detail that has gone into restoring this beautiful home. It's like stepping back in time and hearing the whispers of those who existed long ago.

The host called us as soon as we arrived to make sure everything was OK. The ambiance was very nice, it felt like we were at home. I would definitely stay here again.

It's a charming space in a convenient location and the hosts were very welcoming and friendly. The bed was very soft (foam mattress I think), but also very comfortable. Fresh eggs from the onsite hen house were a real treat!

Stay in the masterfully crafted Lemuel Chenoweth homestead along the rippling Tygart river. Built in 1857, this private 2nd floor 4-room suite offers antiques furnishings, a private entrance, master bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and mud room. It has a queen bed, dresser, large porch with views of the river, a claw-foot tub with shower, sink, toilette, and a well stocked farmhouse kitchenette with a double induction cook top, sink , mini-fridge and more. This suite is a second story apartment. You are above the hosts apartment on the first floor. You have your own private entrance. Please observe the quiet period. Note: This property is set up like a classic Airbnb. Coffee, tea, filtered water and others snacks and cooking supplies are available in your suite.
I am a folk singer, beginning fiddler, and banjo player. I work as a professional writer, researcher, and data analyst. I love wild crafting medicines and finding forest foods. I love adventure too! I have been all over the world and all over this great nation! I love to stay in new places and hope you do to. I am also an experienced super host and delight in making your stay comfortable. The key will be in a lock box. You self check-in. We live in the bottom apartment if you need anything. We are happy to interact with social butterflies or keep to ourselves. :)
The homestead is part of a historic block and historic Beverly. In fact, Stonewall Jackson's sister lived in the red brick house that is catty corner. You can walk to museums, and antique and gift shops. The Chenoweth House is next to the Tygart River. It is nice to sit on the porch and watch the sun set over Rich Mountain as the river flows by. You can walk to the Beverly Historic District, Cutlip Coins and Collectibles, Beverly Heritage Center, Mi Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, Randolph County Museum, Antique Mall and more on Main St., one block away. Elkins is a short 15 minute drive away.
