Property information

Enjoy true country living in this beautifully rustic 2 bedroom family home. Fitted with a queen size bed and 2 single beds, luxurious white 100% cotton linen and soft white towels, you will feel rested and ready to take on a day of exploring. This self-catering accommodation also consists of 1 bathroom with a bath only, an open plan lounge/dining room, cosy fireplace (wood supplied), large kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, freestanding stove, fridge, cutlery and crockery. Complimentary tea, coffee and toiletries are also provided. This home has a lovely "stoep" from where you can enjoy your morning coffee and watch a Karoo sunrise over the Compassberg. In the winter months a cosy fireplace (with wood) sets the tone for a romantic Karoo-like evening. Stone haven at Nieu-Bethesda furthermore has a "plaasdam", windmill, a large garden and working furrows throughout the garden to give you that truly unique Karoo experience. Our 1 bedroom cottage use to be a shed and is fitted with a queen size bed, cotton linen and soft white towels, you will feel rested and ready to take on a day of exploring. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchenette and shower.

Neighbourhood information

World renowned for being home to the late Helen Martins’ extraordinary “Owl House”, it has also become a popular retreat for artists, writers or those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Craft shops and galleries, potteries and sculpture gardens are scattered throughout the town, and visitors can also enjoy bushman paintings, fossils, climbing, hiking, bird-watching, mountain-biking, horse-riding, game-viewing, star-gazing or stoep-sitting (yes, it’s a thing in the Karoo). The area is also a nature lovers paradise. Semi-desert climate means it’s home to some of the largest variety of succulents in the world, as well as various bird species, reptiles and mammals. Although this quaint little town offers everything from relaxation, history, art and adventure, nowhere does the sky unfold as cleanly and as beautifully as it does in Nieu Bethesda. If you’re looking for a spectacular and breathtaking stargazing experience, this is where the skies light up. Come and find your haven.
