Wolverfontein Karoo Cottages is just 4km off the popular Route 62, conveniently situated between Barrydale and Ladismith. The cottages, each with its own private plunge pool, are at the foot of the Touwsberg on the banks of the seasonal Touwsrivier. Not only a birders paradise, it’s also great base for outdoor enthusiasts, with mountain biking and hiking routes within walking distance, whilst self-drive game viewing is possible in neighbouring reserves. The heritage farm buildings at Wolverfontein, now converted into self-catering cottages, offer a blend of modern functionality and antique furnishings in breathtaking natural surroundings. The fully equipped gas-cooker kitchens have been featured in award-winning cookbooks – namely Tannie Maria’s Cookbook and Justine Bonello Cooked in the Karoo - although the generous outdoor braai areas are equally popular, with open fires under clear night skies. Back up solar power ensures that lights remain on during load shedding, that essential devices can charged, whilst Wi-Fi connectivity remains stable for those working remotely. Your well-travelled hosts have been a couple since 1994, moving from Cape Town to the Klein Karoo in 2002. With over 20 years of hospitality experience - Andre and Ashley are hands-on owner managers. We have been together since 1994 and are keen international travelers. We moved from Cape Town to the farm in 2002.
Wolverfontein is situated 4km off the popular Route 62, between Barrydale and Ladismith. We are on the banks of the Touws River at the foot of the Touwsberg. Mountain biking and hiking is available in the Touwsberg private game reserve next door.
