Lovely apartment in a great location very close to the main shopping and sightseeing areas. The apartment is huge and well stocked with a variety of kitchen appliances so it's possible to cook meals. There's a laundry located off the kitchen and a bathroom with a generous amount of toiletry products located behind that. There's ample heating if needed. Everything was exceptionally clean, well organised and of good quality. There is one huge bedroom upstairs containing 5 beds and a partition blind you can lower if required. There is a toilet upstairs and one downstairs just as you enter the building. Access to the apartment is via a digital lock opened via a code which the host supplies before arrival. I'm usually reluctant to recommend apartments since people have different requirements, likes and dislikes but this place is really lovely and very reasonably priced. I would definitely stay here again if I ever returned to Takayama.

Die Auberge Hidanomori wurde nach einer Renovierung im Jahr 2022 wiedereröffnet und liegt in ruhigen Hügeln, eine 10-minütige Fahrt mit dem Shuttle vom JR-Bahnhof Takayama entfernt. The owner/chef and staffs were all incredibly welcoming. The feeling of total peace and serenity was indescribable. Also, the fact that there was no television in the room, lets you truly enjoy the nature that surrounds you.

This is an excellent property to stay in and feels like very recently renovated. Spotlessly clean, with all the facilities we needed. Cooking and laundry facilities are all new and easy to use with helpful English translations on the key buttons. The AC was very welcome given the time of year and very high temperatures. The location is only minutes walk from the older town streets with shops and places to eat. Also only about 5 minutes from a good supermarket, ideal if you want to do some ‘home’ cooking.

We were lucky enough to be the only group that was booked during our stay, and it was exceptional. The house offered a little slice of what country life is like but still have the accessibility to a decent sized town. The Japanese garden was relaxing, and having a little family shine out back by the woods really made the property even more special. We took the tatami room and I was afraid that it might be uncomfortable, but it was some of the best sleep I had during our trip. If you plan to take a bus there, take the H02 or H03 (Hirayu s Hiohotaka line - stop H14) and walk about 10 minutes. He property itself has 3 rooms that the owner rents out, 2 tatami rooms and 1 western style room. There is a full kitchen downstairs, a bathtub, and a separate washroom, which was a nice touch since it allowed us to do our thing without having to wait for the toilet/shower. On our last night, we cooked a little meal and enjoyed it in the traditional dining rood.

Incredible place. Absolutely immaculate, due partially to it being brand new, but the craftsmanship is brilliantly executed. To say it exceeded our expectations is a massive understatement. It's very comfortable, private, clean, and well equipped. The location is nice since it's very close to everything, but also a little off the beaten path so you can escape the crowds. The route into the centre along the river is idyllic and such a treat. There's even a tiny playpark nearby for little ones, but it has seen better days. Highly recommended.
