The owner Ai is one of the kindest, coolest humans I've met in Japan. As a solo traveller I couldn't have asked for a better place to base myself to enjoy the snow and Myoko. Baco Myoko has an unassuming facade hiding a relaxed, comfortable haven to kick back in after riding the surrounding mountains. Ai has great knowledge of the area when it comes to eating and good advice on mountains to ski for the current conditions. A great place to meet people if adventuring alone, private onsens, shuttles to the mountains and great breakfasts are all part of the package.I know how hard it is to sort through all the accomodation options in myoko, trust me and stay with Ai for your trip. You won't regret it

Very cool, retro vibe in the lodge. The staff are fantastic, the food was delicious, the room was very comfortable, & the onsen facilities were very nice.
The outdoor bath is on the colder side, but the inside bath is nice & warm, so there is a nice difference between the two to try out.
Situated 5 mins from the main street of Akakura Daiju is great spot to base yourself out of for your stay in myoko. Huge brekkie, great little in-house onsen style bath and shuttles to Mount Myoko resorts. Twin rooms are massive.
The staff at Myoko Forest Lodge were exceptional. They cooked great food, had excellent tips and advice about the area including good info on where the best snow might be found. We were treated like VIPs by everyone.
The beds were super warm and cozy and the inhouse bath was divine.
Michael and Tamami went out of their way to make our stay, just perfect. Excellent amenities and super clean. The bathroom set up is great for couple as you can share a 'Onsen' together.
Red Fox is centrally located between all three ski areas, there is a courtesy bus for dropping off at restaurants ect.
Nothing is to much trouble.
The central lounge has an open fire, it’s very social and well equipped.

quiet and spacious hotel. our corner room was wonderful with windows (double for warmth) on 3 sides with lovely views. clean tatami mats but sleeping on western beds. great in-room shower but the onsen (on-site) was fantastic. Seki onsen itself was wonderful. the hotel itself is right next to this oldest ski resort in Japan which is still family- owned, had plenty of powder, and most importantly, was not overrun by Australians like in Akakura village. we had a car so accessing the other ski resorts nearby and going out to dinner was fabulous.

Highly recommended stay in Akakura!
The room was very spacious & spotless along with a nice communal dining area, fully equipped kitchen, a dry room for all your snow gear, clean toilets and an amazing natural onsen which can be private for you to enjoy. It was a perfect way to end the day. We loved our host, her english was great and was able to provide recommendations on local attractions and snow info.
