Location was excellent. Right on the side of the ski slope and very close to all other lifts. All staff were very friendly and helpful except for one member of staff on reception who was abrupt and officious. All other reception staff were lovely.

Lovely location, close to the slopes and shops (few mins walk) but tucked away in the forest for a bit of tranquility. Great that we as an extended family could all have our own apartments but be close to each other on the same floor.

Probably good for beginners (less than 3 trips). Anything more and you’ll be bored after a day. Resprt is dreadful - like Blackpool on ice. No atmosphere, just bars, average restaurants and limited skiing.
Two good things - Rila hotel is lovely, and Victoria restaurant is a gem amongst some very basic food offerings

Borovets is a great place for families looking for a ski vacation. It's not to hard to get to from Sofia airport. Just 77 minutes away from the airport. The town felt safe and quiet even at night ( at least where we stayed). It has a green slope which is ideal for beginners. The blue and green slopes are right next to each other. This enabled me to see my daughter ski on the blue slope while I used the easier green slope which was too easy for her. The lift is safe and efficient. The slopes are wide enough to accommodate all the skiers without feeling too crowded. There are lots of good options for ski lessons and equipment. Personally I recommend Ollie Moly Ski school and rental. One piece of advice: don't change money to BGN in the airport. You get a much better rate by changing in Borovets. There are plenty of change stores in the town. The town is very close to the ski slopes. There are plenty of places to buy food

Beautiful slopes and lots of chairs available high on the mountains. It is however extremely crowded at the bottom gondola. It opens at 8:30 but at that time the queue is already very long and it's going slowly. We spent almost 45-60 mins staying in the queue at the bottom gondola. Also, the closing time is 4:30 PM. We would have expected that during Febr when the day is longer that they will be open much later than that.

Slopes were not well maintained, especially after it snowed overnight. They would become bumpy quickly after start of the day. Lifts timinings are also stange - cabin starts at 8 am, while Yastrebec Express at 8:30, so if one wants to go up - you have to wait very long time at Mid Station. I think it would be a great idea to leave 2 or 3 cabins empty, every now and then, so people waiting at mid statuon can board quicker.

The resort has seen better days.
The resort has seen better days. As a native from Bulgaria we can see the hordes of people hitting the slopes during the winter(when we visit) and if you plan to visit during the weekend - don't, you will ruin your experience. We are talking about 20minute waits on lifts, no space to walk due to lack of parking spaces to handle the traffic load and so. Week days are still calm and you can actually enjoy it. Another tip - if you want to eat, go to the near by town Samokov(5min drive) instead of eating on the slopes. It costs as much as 50% less and the food is better.
Very nice and comfortable place for 2, and even we as family of 4 felt great. The host is helpful and swift to respond. The studio is clean and cosy, with a comfortable bed and extension bed for the kids. In a beatiful forest area and a walking distance to Yastrebec ski run. With affordable additional payment we enjoyed all the amenities of the five star Hotel - Borovets Hills, which is in the same building /restaurant and a nice spa center with a pool/. Definitely will come back again!
Hotel rooms comfortable but dated, not a problem for us (not in the room much), plenty of storage and somewhere to hang your coat after skiing, other hotels we've been to in borovets didn't have enough storage or anywhere to hang coats to dry out after skiing. Fridge in room worked well, so well in fact it froze our water when we turned it up. Staff very nice and helpful, especially the barman. Breakfast and dinner both good. Group of 12 and everyone found something they liked to eat.
The hotel is located at a tranquil place surrounded by a forest. The staff was polite and friendly, the room was spacious and the bed was big enough. Breakfast and dinner were limited in options, but everything was fresh and delicious, so the whole family was happy with the meals. SPA was very nice especially the herbal sauna and the salt room. There is a kids center with a nice lady taking care of the kids and our kids loved to play there after dinner. All in all it was a nice stay.
Landmark hotel in top location. I love Borovets, Rila mountain and surrounding hills and plain. Samokov has also changed since my last visit to Borovets 4 or 5 years ago. It is atractive to visit or stop for rest. Sapareva Banja should not be missed. Even a half day soaking in the thermal springs does mirracles. The 7 Rila Lakes take my breath away everytime although I have hiked there a few times.
The hotel is really, really good! Much better than the other hotels in Borovets. Perfect location near to the slopes, at the same time really quiet. The service was also on a high level, special greetings to Zdravka on the reception desk, she also helped us to extend out stay and to feel comfortable. For sure we will use this hotel going forward. Thank you!
We have been to Borovets for the last 7 years and stayed in many different hotels. The standard of accommodation and hotel food is generally poor but is reflected in the cost of the holiday. This is by far the worst of them all by a long way. It looked ok but there was nothing I could say I liked.
Great hotel surrounded by old pine trees, in a perfect location in Borovets. Pool was amazing and we very much enjoyed the lounge with the fireplace. Our room was a marvelous, spacious suite with comfy beds and we had our own balcony! Breakfast was very good! We will sure be back for more days!
The staff at the hotel was very kind. My car broke down and they did everything they could to help. They communicated with the car hire company and made sure they would send someone to pick me up.
The atmosphere was very friendly, the food was great. I would definitely stay there again.
The food was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Lots of parking space and the view from the restaurant was nice. The hotel is located a bit away from Borovets center(not far, just enough) that it was quiet and peacefull.
Excellent old villa with own parking, minutes from the slopes. Thanks to the staff who was always helpful and meet all questions and demands with a friendly smile. If you want to stay in the center of Borovets, avoiding overpriced hotels, and feel like a home choose Villa Ibar.
Based on the hotel's second floor, the room was more spacious than we thought before. It had all the utilities needed for a comfortable stay, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable.
Good value for money, and close to the 'center' of Borovets and the cable car up to Musala.
Big spacious rooms, great service, amazing people. We had a bad experience with another hotel in the area and we finished our Bulgaria trip by staying in Borovets. While it is 5 minutes away from the slopes the shuttle buses and the tranquility of the area more than make up.
Very conveniently located -- only a 5-10 minute walk from Borovets center, so it's away from noisy hotels and bars. The blackout curtains helped us get a good sleep! The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We had a one bedroom apartment, which was located in the Flora hotel. The apartment was very nice and comfortable for a family of four. The restaurant and service is very good! We enjoyed our stay and will probably return
The hotel itself is pleasant. Possibly a little dated but overall comfortable, offers pleasant buffet breakfast/dinner and is just a few steps from the town center and gondola. The apartment was spacious.
Aleksandar and Feri were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. If you're planning a trip in Borovets this is the ideal accommodation.
Perfect hotel next to the ski places. The staff is really nice and you will have everything you need there. It is clean and a good balance price/quality.
