Charles Bridge

This faithful friend has spanned the watery divide between the Old Town and Malá Strana for over 600 years. The stream of footsteps on the cobbles sounds out a restless beat, accompanying the myriad street musicians and performers. Bronze statues stand watch over the crowd, giving an eternal sense of grandeur to this most majestic of Prague’s bridges.

Sunset is one of the best times to view the bridge and walk across. Make sure to check out the John Lennon Peace Wall when you get to the other side of the bridge. Check out the Good Luck St. John of Nepomuk statue - it is shiny where people rub it for luck.

Excellent bridge with a lot of history around it. Great place to visit and learn more about Prague and it's history. I didn't know the last time a car or bike was allowed to go through the bridge was in the 50s.

This stunning bridge is pictureseque and like something from a postcard. However, especially on the weekends, it is absolutely swarming with tourists at all hours of the day and night, and so I would recommend getting there early in the morning (on a weekday) to maximise your visit. Otherwise, it's really hard to appreciate the architecture and history, and it is very busy with tourist-based vendors.

Amazing view and the way from the Narodni museum to the bridge is wonderful by walk. You get to see and experience different shops, eateries etc. It was raining when we were there so we didn't get to stay long on the bridge itself. But worth visiting.

Beautiful fantastic historical journey across the bridge. Do some research on the statues you will see before you go. We went up to the castle first then walked down to Charles Bridge and crossing into the Old Town area.

Bustling in the afternoon, but still a wonderful walk across this amazing bridge where artists line the streets between statues of old. And the views of the city are breathtaking. Early in the day would be the least traveled times for less traffic, but any time of the day is still work the stroll.

The location was perfect. Just out of the city centre with a fantastic coffee/bookshop opposite. It was a leisurely walk along the river to Charles Bridge, the main square and Mala Strana. The apartment was nice and cosy to sit in of an evening and relax. We understand that it is in central Prague but it was a little expensive when compared to other, larger apartments in Central Europe. However, would recommend for a city break.

Perfect location. Couple of minutes walk to the main busy junction for famous Charles Bridge & entrance to Old Town but there is no noise as the hotel is located down a quiet pretty side street. Staff very friendly, very clean.

A good 10-15 min tram away to the centre. U can walk from the hotel to Charles bridge. Tram stop is just 2 min away from the hotel. Room was clean and bed was comfy. The fridge was a plus. Lift was also available if u have heavy luggage. There was a big mall nearby. Maybe 10 min walk or 1 tram station away.

Great apartment with everything you'll need for a few days in Prague. I really enjoyed the stay and the location directly at the Charles Bridge was amazing. Great staff too with very quick responses. Have already recommended to friends and family and will definitely book again if in Prague.

Ronda 9 is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Prague. We were in Apartment 5 and it was very spacious and have everything we needed during our stay. Comfy bed, lift access, secure entry and it's in a fantastic location. Mini mart right next door and a delicious Indian restaurant on the other side. Literally a 6 min walk to Old Town Square and 12mins to Charles Bridge. The location is perfect and the street is quiet.

The hotel had an excellent location, just a short walk from Charles Bridge on a lively street. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast was enjoyable. The room was clean with a spacious bed, and the bathroom even had a bidet spray. Daily housekeeping kept everything spotless.

Absolutely amazing place. Beautiful spacious apartment in historic location. Words cannot describe how wonderful this place is. Everything is new and functional, yet it truly has the feel of old Prague. This hotel is also in a very quiet location and yet very close to Charles bridge. So, you can enjoy the bustling tourist areas, yet return to this quiet hideaway for rest. I also recommend visiting the Alchemist museum and having a drink at the bar.

  • Be prepared to wander off the beaten track.

Be prepared to wander off the beaten track. There are lovely gardens in Mala Strana and around the castle which are usually very peaceful. Petrin Hill is great for walking - it is steep, but there is a great funicular railway if you don't fancy the climb. The view rom here is lovely - and also from Letna Park, by the giant metronome. Stromovka is another nice park where you won't be tripping over other tourists and the area around Vysehrad tends to be quiet too. Prague Castle opens quite early and a ticket will give you entry on 2 days. Buy your ticket early to avoid the queues and give you time to see around everything. If you are an early riser, head to Charles Bridge before 10am to avoid the crowds. May is a great time to visit Prague. It is usually sunny, the cherry blossom is out and there are fewer tourists than in the summer. Avoid July and August when it is hot and crowded if you can.

  • Leave the tourist areas!

Leave the tourist areas! Get away from Charles Bridge and Old Town, find a little pub tucked away. Take the tram somewhere and go wandering. If you are in Old Town, check out the Koruna cafeteria (next to Hooters) for some cheap, delicious authentic Czech cuisine. It's where the locals go when they have to be in Old Town.
