Staying at the Hotel in Pietra was an unforgettable experience that went beyond my usual expectations for a hotel stay. We decided to splurge a little extra and stayed at one of the suites. The room was beyond our expectations, and absolutely beautiful and magical! The building, or cave, is a perfect restoration of a historical church, with attention to detail that preserves its ancient beauty while providing modern luxuries. The staff at Hotel in Pietra were exceptionally welcoming and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered great recommendations for exploring Matera. The location of the hotel is ideal. It's conveniently situated to enjoy the best of the city’s sights. I highly recommend Hotel in Pietra to anyone visiting Matera. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a historical adventure, this hotel promises a stay filled with comfort, beauty, and excellent hospitality.

The cave house was super cool to see.

The cave house was super cool to see. Also cool, nearby there is a cantina, not for drinks, for a grandpa and his nephew who walk you through the grandfather's childhood case house and nephew explaining the history in English. Truly exceptional experience of someone who grew up in the cave house itself!
