It was one of the best, the rooms are so big, we are able to gather together with familes and have dinner together with all the nicest appliances and kitchen tools provided. And they provide a dyson hairdryer and all the best kitchen utensils you can borrow including dyson airwrap. Its fenomenal. And lastly all the staffs can speak english and are all very kind. They helped a lot especially they accompany my brother to visit a doctor for his son and the staff helped and waited until everything is finished. Truly an amazing and heartwarming experience.

It's free.

It's free. There are lots of food stalls and vending machines. Make sure you have coins. This place is stroller and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator on the far side passed the area where you hang your mini torii gate. Tip: go early if you want to take good pictures. The place will be packed. Watch out for passing trains as well.

Incredible shrine to visit.

Incredible shrine to visit. Many walking options and the Tori Gates are spectacular. If you don't want to walk all the way around the mountain, then you can take short cuts and still get the full experience

Try to go early morning (6:30 AM or 7 AM) for less crowds. We went around 4-5 pm and just managed to get photos in great lighting. But there were too many people around, so getting a clear shot was difficult.

This was far easier a walk than I thought.

This was far easier a walk than I thought. It took maybe 45mins-1hr to reach the top. What slows you down is the number of people and dawdlers. There are many shrines to see on the way, which is spectacular. As a bushwalker, I loved this. Go early in the morning at 8am and start the walk, or go late in the afternoon to miss the crowds. The view over the city is amazing.

We arrived late in the afternoon (4:30pm/5pm) and walked to the top! It is really busy down the bottom but the crowds thin out the higher you go. The top is a bit of a let down with no real view, you wont miss out not going to the very top but I would recommend the viewing areas as the majority of instagrammers wont get that far and then you can appreciate the view over Kyoto.

We went on dusk and it added a beautiful light to the gates and shrines. Mosquitos started to bite as the sun went down so would recommend insect repellent if you arevisiting in those times. Car parking was free and very accessible. There are hills and a combination of gentle stairs, steeper stairs and some very steep ramps so is semi accessible for people with mobility difficulties. Toilet facilities are clean and in good locations. Lots of great photo opportunities along the way and although it is very popular, most people are happy to pause along the trail to let you get a good photo (just be respectful and dont hog the space) Food vendors are close by the entrance with lots of options
