Very nice hotel located close to station. Room was spacy, equipted with very new furniture. In the same street there is a good small bakery and restaurant with local food. We visited both and enjoyed it very much.

One gets the feeling that if this was not an apart-hotel, it would be an upscale Japanese condo. It’s very well located, a 10 minute (for us) walk from the Kyoto rail station, next to a four-story AEON mall which has a reasonable food court and a full range grocery store. Close to Kyoto’s excellent public bus system. Security is good (but see negative comment below), with deadbolt and high security key access. Apartments are sizeable, and there are only two apartments on each floor, separated by an elevator, so noise is not a problem. The Booking website shows the room layout accurately. Rooms are a good size, but note no storage, only hangers. Bed is comfortable, with duvets. Toilet is separate from the bathroom, a handy feature; note, however, that the toilet is in a very compact room – think Boeing 737MAX size, and mobility challenged people may have an issue. The bathroom itself allows freedom of movement. There’s a tub, with separate shower. Shower pressure and volume is excellent, and there’s good lighting in the washbasin area. The apartment has been very recently built or redone; very little evidence of wear. Staff are very friendly and congenial, with very good skill in English. Unit was spotlessly clean. Lighting in all the living areas was excellent, making for easy reading or board game playing in the evenings. Wifi was acceptable for our use, but not exceptionally fast, at 5 Mbps early on a Sunday morning. The TV in the kitchen/dining/living area was huge, and we enjoyed the ability to use our Netflix and Amazon Prime memberships, given that we couldn’t find any English language programs on the satellite channels. Air conditioning is provided by ductless units in the living and bedroom areas; they worked effectively and silently. The washing machine worked well; kudos to management for including detailed instructions in English, something many other places lack. Clothes drying is by rack. If you are traveling with children, this could be one of the best place to stay in Kyoto. It’s just one station away from the Kyoto Main Station on the JR Line. Next to the hotel there’s an aquarium, a railway museum and a park. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Popular destinations like Arashimaya and Fushi Inari are just a few train stations away. Hotel interior is simplistic yet classy. Public bath area is super clean with area where you can blow dry hair and do make up. Breakfast is of good quality and serving some seasonal dishes. There are family mart and Starbucks attached to the building. You may check your laundry status through the tv in the room. Microwave oven and ice maker are available on each floor. Highly recommended!

The staff was lovely and extremely accommodating. The facilities and the overall vibe of the hotel is very clean, posh, yet comfortable and welcoming. Our room was spotless and always a welcome sight after a long day of touring and sightseeing. The cherry on top is the location of the hotel: it's literally within 5-10 minutes of Kyoto Station, where the subway and buses are located. This made it extremely easy to go on tours and move around Kyoto! I would recommend this hotel to everyone! We made a lot of good memories from our trip and Richmond Hotel had a huge part in that. :)
