The hot plunge pools are lovely in the Fall. Just the right temperature. Walking distance to Pahia businesses and across the road is the beach. Reception desk staff polite and helpful.

Be prepared to spend a long time there - its good to read all the information and visit all the buildings. Take the tour and see the cultural performance. Take a cafe stop to break it up or do the visit over 2 days.

Too expensive, you had to pay for a 2 day ticket but only had time to visit once. So did not go (also saw a lot of people walk away like ourselves) 1 day ticket should be available at a lower price.

Don't miss this, even if it means going out of your way.

Don't miss this, even if it means going out of your way. The museums tell the story of NZ and its people in an even handed and self critical way that makes one think .. There is a relaxing cafe on the grounds and leafy, well maintained trails and arbor walks.

We ran out of time visiting everywhere else, but definitely on the next holiday list. Thank you to the local guides that stopped and had a chat with us about the history. Checkout the Waitangi treaty grounds website for more details! You need 1-2 days for the visit and the price of entry includes guided tours and a Maori performance as well as the history.

Excellent location halfway between the town and wharf and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Short walk to both so we didn’t need to use our car at all. The apartment had great views over the sea and was comfortable and well equipped. The manager was really helpful and even offered to book an excursion for us.

Location and views were amazing. Very close to Waitangi Treaty grounds and the local supermarket a few minutes drive away. Great laundry facilities and living area. Overall was a great place to stay. Easy lock box for key when arriving.

Bay Sands was perfectly situated away from the main crowded area of Paihia yet close enough to walk to access all the activities offered at the wharf. It was also walking distance to Waitangi treaty grounds and the Hararu water falls. The beach area across the hotel was perfect to enjoy a quiet swim and a picnic in privacy. The unit was neat and comfortable with all appliances I could possibly need. The ?owner Jimmy was very pleasant and helpful.

Booked a cabin that was surprisingly spacious! Included bunk beds, two single beds, fridge, chairs and table. Also outside picnic table under a roof next to the cabin. All facilities clean and working. Walking-distance to the Waitangi Treaty grounds.

It was close to attractions in Paihia, very close to Waitangi Treaty Grounds, close to the Countdown supermarket and close to a petrol station. It had a nice view of the bay. The accommodation was clean and there was a washing machine for our use.
