We recently stayed at The Standard X Phra Arthit in Bangkok, and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel is modern and beautifully designed, reminiscent of an art gallery. Everything, from the public areas to the rooms, was impeccably clean. Our room was incredibly spacious, featuring a comfortable bed, plush pillows, and a lovely balcony overlooking the street. The thoughtful design truly enhanced our stay. The staff, especially Mrs. Mo, were exceptionally polite, professional, and always ready to assist. The location of the hotel is simply perfect. It’s just steps away from a vibrant street filled with restaurants, cafés, and so much more. The convenience of having the river tour boat right in front of the hotel was another highlight for us. While we thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of our stay, we did encounter a small issue at the pool. Unfortunately, the staff at the pool bar were inattentive, which detracted from the otherwise high standard of service throughout the hotel. For example, there were no pool towels readily available, and when we requested assistance, the response was slow and unengaged. Additionally, it was difficult to order drinks, as the pool staff seemed absent. This was a missed opportunity, as we had plenty of time to relax at the pool and would have loved to enjoy the bar service. Lastly, one suggestion for improvement would be to add some form of shade to the balconies. It would make the space even more enjoyable, allowing guests to sit outside comfortably without direct exposure to the sun. Despite these minor setbacks, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this beautiful hotel to others. The design, cleanliness, spacious rooms, and outstanding location are reasons to highly recommend this hotel. We look forward to returning in the future!

This is another must.

This is another must. Get there early in the morning, avoids the massive crowds and the increasing heat and humidity. Make sure you plan ahead, wear the correct clothing for visiting temples. Otherwise you will find your buying overpriced leggings and tops at the temple etc

The Grand Palace ranks among Bangkok’s finest treasures and arguably stands as one of the world’s most magnificent palaces. Though its entry fee may be steep, a visit in the early morning—arriving by 8:15 am—proves both rewarding and well worth the cost. Exploring at this hour allows you to bask in its splendour, capture stunning photographs, and escape the midday heat while wandering in peace. The palace dazzles with its vast array of breathtaking buildings, temples, and courtyards, each grand in scale and exquisite in detail. Stepping inside the temples feels like a journey through time, their walls adorned with the entire Ramayana intricately inscribed, whispering history with an unmistakable resonance. The Grand Palace possesses an aura all its own, a testament to its timeless majesty.

Incredible!

Incredible! It's really hard to find the right words to describe this place! Unbelievably amazing! You really just have to come and see it for yourself. We had a great couple of hours or more strolling the grounds and marveling at all of the temples. It's really quite something else. Teenagers were as fascinated and loved it just as much as us (the parents!). We found it a little hard to find the entrance but once there it was busy but very easy to get in. Bags are checked by security. We wore jeans (only long pants we had, and don't recommend 😅) it was so hot. I found it so hard to find reliable information on the dress code and went with the Grand Palace website guidance. However, once we were inside there were many people that had knees, shoulders, arms uncovered and wearing jandals/sandals. We wore trainers (big mistake, don't recommend! Way too hot). People were wearing elephant pants and really casual. I recommend covering up but wear loose comfortable cool clothing. I wore a t shirt and was fine. Once inside there was a stall where you could buy cold water and cokes and also good toilet facility. This is definitely worth visit at least once in your life time and well worth the 500 baht for foreign visitors (no need to pre purchase (unless perhaps you book a special tour guide) easy to buy tickets once you have gone through security) 👌🙏🇹🇭🕍❤️

It was very hot with very little shade.

It was very hot with very little shade. Its one of those things you have to do, a bit like visiting London and seeing Buckingham Palace. bring a hat and water. They're very strick on clothing so make sure you cover shoulders and legs or you'll be buying clothes you don't want.

Nothing great -- we weren't able to go inside so it was just a tour of the outside of the buildings. The best site was the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which was stunning, but you weren't able to take any pictures of the buddha itself.

Very clean, comfy beds, large rooms with aircon, fridge and ect.. great veiw of Wat Arun, Grand palace and more. Plenty of coffee, and water in the room. The lady running the homestay was very helpful with suggestions for sight seeing. Organised taxis and gave us a list of restaurants locally. The coziness and location of the place . It’s situated near all main attractions ( grand palace , emerald Buddha , city shrine , giant swing and the beautiful monastery next it ….) , walking distance . Many local Thai restaurants down the street .( still walking distance) Few Michelin stalls and restaurants nearby . ( still walking distance ) The place is pristine clean and it’s always nice to be able to chat with the owner for bit . Lots of great markets to shop .
