Excellent hotel. Best location in River Walk. A full and good breakfast is also served every evening as part of Happy Hour, a full dinner that includes a variety of hot food, soup, salads, sausages and more... free soft and hot drinks and various cocktails, up to 3 glasses per guest in the evening. The hotel does everything possible to make guests feel good. Without a doubt I will recommend all my friends to stay at this hotel in San Antonio

This recently became a reservation based experience but the basic self guided walk through is still free. I didnt know exactly when we would be in the area and was glad to see they have a welcome area set up out front, so I didnt have to reserve our slot on my phone, and we got right in. There is a lot of history here and beautiful grounds, but it is way smaller than most people expect. It is still a must see.

If you actually want a picture of the Alamo or yourself with the Alamo, go early in the morning - it's deserted before 9am. Otherwise there will be crowds on crowds on crowds, especially in the summer.

The hotel is very close to the Alamo and downtown. Just a few minute walk. The hotel was clean and always smelt clean and fresh. The breakfast was very good. Great variety and good hot fresh food! When we first checked in our tv wasn’t working so the next day the manager moved us rooms and we got a free upgrade. It was very kind of them to offer us that upgrade. Great staff through out the day greeting you and checking to see if you need anything.

We came to visit for our anniversary and were welcomed with warm cookies and bottled water. The hotel upgraded our room, and sent us up chocolate covered strawberries. The bath tub was huge and the room had 180 degrees views. From our room we could see the Alamo from an angle we never saw it from. Everything about the stay was perfect. We even went up to the 14th floor which really does still smell like hospital. Strange.

The hotel location is fantastic. We went there for a show at the Alamodome and the Uber there was super cheap and we indeed have to walk all the way back to the hotel and even that was only a 16 minute walk. It was a great place to stay.

A beautiful nostalgic hotel to roam around with an attractive garden. Bed was very comfortable and we were given a room with a view. So close to everything, e.g. walking distance to Riverwalk, Hemifair, La Villilita, RiverCenter, and The Alamo.

Everything in San Antonio is more expensive than it should be. A lot of bums laying around the river walk. The main attractions are the Alamo and the old churches which can be easily seen in one day. This is not a snub on Hotel Contessa - but is my take on San Antonio in general. It was much better the other times I visited.
