What a place!!! A hidden gem in the mountains, which you need to visit to understand its beauty. It has everything you need, even all the utensils to cook a great dinner. Helpful staff, beautiful surroundings, comfortable rooms. Yes, you see lots of animals around, even inside. But man, you are in nature, not in a city, so it’s part of the adventure. I’m writing this for the benefit of those who are thinking about booking and reading posts that seem to comment without understanding what Wachakyta is about. It scored 10 because the whole experience was brilliant. Where else in the world can you spend the night on a deserted beach, with a chef, a bar, unlimited water, coffee tea etc etc? There is also free wifi (which didn’t always work when you were away from the main area). But you have to realise you are in a beach hut. You’ll get critters, wind, the sound of the sea and everything nature has. Sure, you’ll also have a comfortable bed, good quality sheets (and a mozzie net) so it’s not without some creature comforts. The prices charged for food and drink were perfectly fine given everything (including you!!) has to be delivered by boat. And the food is cooked to order… they will come to find you about two hours before lunch or dinner and you make your selection and choose the time. The boat, by the way, is a separate business but you’ll get details on how to book and as someone who speaks only a little Spanish, the whole process was done by what’s app. They picked us up at 4.20 on the Wednesday exactly as promised. And that, my friends, is our summary. This is a get away from the world place. Enjoy nature, wildlife, the sun, the stars and escape.

Really nice local hosts. The place is in an remote place around 15 min walk from Calabazo in the direction of the national park. You already have the impression that your in the park. I really recommend this place. You are of the crowd, which comes through the main entrance. The food was really delicious and local, for a very fair price. Thanks a lot for the great time !!

This is a very unique experience that you do not easily get else where! From the bottom of the mountain going up and until you get down again after your stay, you are fully covered into jungle, tranquillity and no-tourism. Out of the real world and back to nature. The way up is challenging, so do not expect a real road and you have to be in a good shape! It is done by bike dudes that bring you to a certain point up and you finish your way up by yourself. The stay is not a normal stay since the hosts Juan Pablo and Marcel take care of you as a family. They cook breakfast, lunch and dinner (for extra cost) for all the guests with the organic food from the jungle and everyone is relaxing, making music, chatting and eating together. But no worries if you need some privacy, the houses are very nice, build as it used to be in a jungle and the dome is a very unique experience in the forest. You can do some hikes in the surrounding area at the waterfall where you are the only one. The stay is sustainable, organic and self-sufficient, so you drink and shower with the mountain water and the toilet feces are used for the surrounding area to grow plants. If you have a weak stomach, I recommend to bring a big bottle of drinking water.

Amazing place a little outside of Minca, perfect to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature but still close enough to walk into town. Great breakfast, very friendly hosts and the absolutely best view! The hammocks are also a big plus:)
