Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, free BBQ facilities and a free airport shuttle, Saltbush Retreat is a 3 minutes’ drive from Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum. The self contained accommodation offers free transfers from airport, train and bus stations on request. Absolutely wonderful stay at Saltbush. We were greeted by a lovely, friendly man (his name escapes me) who gave us a great recommendation for a butcher so we could get some steaks for dinner. The entire place is cozy and rustic. We didn’t use the baths but they looked so cool! Rooms were spacious, our cabin looked out onto some grass with kangaroos grazing, which was a delight for our 9 month old. It had everything we needed, including wine glasses, I only wish we’d bought a bottle from them! Highly recommend, we had a lovely little stay :)

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Great location, incredibly quiet. Lovely room with very comfortable beds. The lady on reception was really helpful, sorting us out with an appropriate room, I booked at the last minute. Fabulous atmosphere, really felt at home and comfortable. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The rainwater tap was an added bonus.

Located in Cape Tribulation in the Queensland region and Thornton Beach reachable within 2 km, Noah Creek Eco Huts provides accommodation with free WiFi, BBQ facilities, a garden and free private parking.

Daintree Discovery Centre is 17 km from the lodge. Cooktown Airport is 122 km away. The whole place was magical. We loved bathing in the outdoor shower and bath surrounded by tropical plants. We were here not long after cyclone Jasper hit, so most places in Daintree were closed and there were no other guests. We had to cancel a few tours we booked because of the cyclone but we think that was a blessing in disguise since it gave us time to relax, cook delicious meals in the outdoor kitchen, cool off in the swimming hole a few minutes walk away, walk north along the closed road, helped clear some of the deadfall along one of the trails (we volunteered). There were so many different rainforest sounds in the day and at night. The 5 nights we were there we didn’t use our car to get anywhere, other than when we arrived and left! We will be back one day in the future.
