Fred, the owner, built this Ecolodge himself with a clear mission: to be 100% sustainable. Every aspect of the property reflects that goal—everything is green, circular, and thoughtfully designed. The lodge is impressively clean, well-maintained, and full of character. The rooms are spacious, freshly renovated, and each comes with its own private bathroom. We stayed in the Double Room, which was very comfortable and equipped with a fan—perfect for keeping cool at night. All the essentials are available on-site, including kayak and snorkeling gear rentals, which made exploring the area super convenient. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the food. Sook Peng, Fred’s wife, is not only an incredible cook but also a truly warm and welcoming person. Sharing meals with her was a joy, and her cooking made every meal memorable. There are also cozy hammocks for relaxing, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. We couldn't recommend this place more highly—it's a rare gem built with heart and purpose. Oh, I was almost forgetting, both land and transport are organized by the Fred and Sook Peng and everything went super smooth! Terima kasih Fred and Sook Peng!

Hawun Valley Kiulu features a hot tub and air-conditioned guest accommodation in Tamparuli, 39 km from Filipino Market Sabah, 34 km from Likas City Mosque and 39 km from Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village.

Asian and halal breakfast options are available at the lodge. At Hawun Valley Kiulu you will find a restaurant serving Asian cuisine. A halal option can also be requested. Didn’t expect the room come with little pantry with ricecooker, water kettle, and stove to cook. Plates, cups and utensil for cooking also provided. But they only allow Halal food ya. There is fridge also. Room is very clean and love the sweet pink color room😆 pool is not too deep and have lovely warm temperature. This place is well maintain.

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan.

This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries. We were very glad to have spent three beautiful days and two nights in this cabin. What impressed me most was the food here every day. It was so delicious and very professional. Jason showed great care to every guest and remembered everyone's preferences, making us feel at home. Moreover, Jason is proficient in multiple languages, which is amazing. During our communication with him, we also gained a deeper understanding of the land we came to, and he provided us with many suggestions for our future travels in Southeast Asia. Every day we were looking forward to what animals we would encounter the next day. There were gains as well as regrets. We saw many kinds of hornbills and proboscis monkeys, and also had two close encounters with the orangutans living near the cabin. But does this mean there will be a next time and the time after that? It was a great experience and we will come again. Wish TheLast Frontier all the best.

Amazing view with balcony overlooking southern mountains and hills from my room. Tidy & clean, with a decent restaurant on-site so not necessary to drive out to eat. Toiletries are sufficient. Thoughtful details in the room. Pleasantly surprised to find this in such a location.

At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian and Grill BBQ cuisine. Vegetarian and halal options can also be requested. The staff was excellent Mica and Ten did an excellent job spotting the wildlife and were very knowledgeable answering any questions about the animals in the area. Fantastic experience

The breakfast offers buffet, à la carte or American options. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Steakhouse, local and Asian cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. Really amazing place to stay near all of the sights in Sepilok. I chose to walk everywhere and it seemed to be in a pretty central location. Food was tasty and staff was friendly.

The love and passion was overwhelming and made us feel one with nature and culture of Borneo. it’s back to the roots and not for someone who is looking for a luxurious stay. it’s simple but we loved it!!!!! we would like to come back again to support Howard in sustaining the culture
