From the moment we arrived, we absolutely loved our stay here. Fred, the owner, built this Ecolodge himself with a clear mission: to be 100% sustainable. Every aspect of the property reflects that goal—everything is green, circular, and thoughtfully designed. The lodge is impressively clean, well-maintained, and full of character. The rooms are spacious, freshly renovated, and each comes with its own private bathroom. We stayed in the Double Room, which was very comfortable and equipped with a fan—perfect for keeping cool at night. All the essentials are available on-site, including kayak and snorkeling gear rentals, which made exploring the area super convenient. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the food. Sook Peng, Fred’s wife, is not only an incredible cook but also a truly warm and welcoming person. Sharing meals with her was a joy, and her cooking made every meal memorable. There are also cozy hammocks for relaxing, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. We couldn't recommend this place more highly—it's a rare gem built with heart and purpose. Oh, I was almost forgetting, both land and transport are organized by the Fred and Sook Peng and everything went super smooth! Terima kasih Fred and Sook Peng!

Die Unterkunft Hawun Valley Kiulu bietet einen Whirlpool sowie klimatisierte Wohneinheiten in Tamparuli, 39 km von Filipino Market in Sabah entfernt. Didn’t expect the room come with little pantry with ricecooker, water kettle, and stove to cook. Plates, cups and utensil for cooking also provided. But they only allow Halal food ya. There is fridge also. Room is very clean and love the sweet pink color room😆 pool is not too deep and have lovely warm temperature. This place is well maintain.

Romeo und seine Frau sind wirklich herzliche Menschen, super Köche und immer bemüht, ihren Gästen, die beste Zeit zu ermöglichen. Die Internetauszeit haben wir sehr genossen. Wir konnten für einen Tag einen Roller ausleihen und auf eigene Faust die Insel erkundigen. Außerdem organisierte Romeo einen Tag für uns, an dem wir mit einem Boot zum Angeln gefahren sind - ein großer Spaß. Das Farbenspiel der Sonnenuntergänge über dem Meer ist spektakulär. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Das The Last Frontier Boutique Resort begrüßt Sie auf einem 100 m langen Hügel mit Blick auf das Naturschutzgebiet Kinabatangan. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Firstly the staff were the nicest bunch of people, who genuinely care that the guests have a great trip, and are passionate about the environment and the wildlife. Secondly, this is the only place in the area actually inside the jungle, rather than on the river. And that matters because you're much more likely to see an Orang utan in the wild staying here. We were lucky enough to see one, and the guys running the place were overjoyed for us. It was a truly breathtaking moment. And we saw monitor lizards and Hornbills causally wandering/ flying around. The guys running the place could not do enough for us. Also the food was great, and included. Travel is quite a hobby for me, I have been travelling the world regularly for over 30 years now and I have stayed in a lot of places, from luxury hotels to eco-resorts etc. This rates as high as any experience I have had anywhere. I wish there were more places run this well and with this much passion in the world.

Die in der Region Sabah in Kinabatangan gelegene Unterkunft Borneo Jungle Adventure bietet kostenloses WLAN und einen kostenlosen Privatparkplatz. Unglaublicher Aufenthalt in Dschungel! Wir haben 4 Tage gebucht und Borneos Big 5 erleben dürfen. Der Höhepunkt war eine Orang-Utan Mutter mit Kind, einfach unvergesslich. Die Zimmer sind sehr einfach gehalten und großer Luxus darf nicht erwartet werden (würde aber auch nicht zu einem Dschungel Abenteuer passen). Das Essen war unglaublich lecker und der Gemeinschafts Bereich in der Lodge war sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Da der Fluss stark überflutet war sind die Regenwaldtouren ausgefallen und es haben nur die Flussfahrten stattgefunden.

Die in der Region Sabah in Sepilok gelegene Unterkunft Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort bietet einen kostenlosen Privatparkplatz sowie Zugang zu einem Whirlpool. Tolles Hotel im Regenwald. Man kann gut zu Fuss zu den Orang-Utans laufen, ca 1 km. Auch zum Rainforest Discovery Centre ist es nicht weit. Das Personal an der Reception war sehr freundlich und hat für uns kurzfristig eine Tour mit Fussfahrt in den Regenwald gebucht. Tolles Frühstück. Netter Pool zum Abkühlen und Relaxen.

Die Unterkunft Maglami-lami Water House mit Meerblick in Semporna bietet Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten mit einem Restaurant. Das Familienzimmer war sehr schön und auch sauber! Die Aussicht einfach ein Traum. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Essen war sehr gut, jedoch täglich sehr ähnlich.

Die Unterkunft Tampat do Aman befindet sich in Kudat und bietet kostenloses WLAN. Gäste genießen einen Garten, eine Terrasse und ein Restaurant. Howard was an exceptional host. From the minute we arrived, he made us feel settled and showed us around the area. He offered to bring us every morning to wherever we wanted to go along the tip of Borneo. The jungle camp itself is so special and there is a great vibe amongst the other travellers. We would have loved to stay longer but we needed to catch the bus to Sandakan (and they don’t go very often!)
