Silk sand and crystal clear water! Sook Peng and Fred are wonderful and kind hosts who help to ensure a brilliant stay. They help to organize all the travel arrangements from your lodgings in Kota Kinabalu to the island via car and boat, and it all worked seamlessly. The food that Sook Peng cooked was simply fantastic and some of the best I have had during my whole trip. The lodge is very unique and they take their environmental responsibility very seriously. Staying on the island is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s completely deserted apart from a small village and there are lots of different activities one can do. (Kayak, snorkel, diving, guided walks). We did bonfires at night and spent the days in hammocks just meters from the beach as the local island cows wandered past.

A sun terrace and a private beach area can be found at Tammoyo Place, along with a garden. We liked the remote location. We had hut next to the sea. The food was excellent and was prepered according to our requests (2 persons are vegetarians and 2 person sea food lovers).

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan.

This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries. We loved the location, the rooms and the service. The food in the middle of the forest is amazing and the chats with the owners insightful. Highly recommended!

Amazing view with balcony overlooking southern mountains and hills from my room. Tidy & clean, with a decent restaurant on-site so not necessary to drive out to eat. Toiletries are sufficient. Thoughtful details in the room. Pleasantly surprised to find this in such a location.

Our stay in the Borneo Jungle Adventure lodge was nothing short of spectacular! From the seamless pick-up and drop-off from Sandakan to the incredible activities arranged by the lodge, every detail was perfect. The lodge itself was well-equipped and comfortable, and we were thrilled to find reliable WiFi in the common area. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the river cruises, expertly guided by Linda and her team. Their knowledge and dedication were evident, and they went above and beyond to ensure we saw the best wildlife the region has to offer, including the elusive Big 5. Linda's passion and expertise truly enhanced our experience, making each cruise an adventure to remember. A special mention goes to the food – the best Malaysian home-cooked meals we’ve ever had! The lodge graciously accommodated our vegetarian request, and every meal was a delightful culinary experience. This stay comes highly recommended for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Borneo's jungle while enjoying excellent hospitality and thrilling wildlife adventures. The breakfast offers buffet, à la carte or American options. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Steakhouse, local and Asian cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. Very very well organised and friendly staff! Super cool facility and a Pool to cool down after a hot day!

Some accommodation includes a terrace with mountain views, a fully equipped kitchen and a private bathroom with bidet. Not only was the view from the room amazing, but the lady checking us in and out was so kind and helpful.

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant.

There is a private bathroom with bidet in all units, along with free toiletries and slippers.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Everything was perfect – from our stunning sea-view room to the warm, welcoming staff who made us feel at home. Waking up to that turquoise water every morning was magical! The food was fresh and tasty, with lots of variety. We loved the island hopping and snorkeling – swimming with turtles and exploring vibrant reefs was unforgettable. Relaxing, beautiful, and full of adventures – we didn’t want to leave! Can’t wait to return.

Located in Kudat, Tampat do Aman provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a restaurant.

If you would like to discover the area, hiking is possible in the surroundings and the lodge can arrange a car rental service. We had a wonderful stay at Tampat do Aman- Howard was so friendly and helpful, he showed us around and gave us recommendations what to do and where to eat( Inas café is really good). He cares about the local culture and environment and there is also a little museum about the people there( the Rungus) and their culture. We overall can really recommend staying there!
