Overall the best place we have been to in Borneo!

This is the perfect place to unwind, relax and escape from the world. You're staying right on the beach with the most epic sunsets you can watch from your bed in a chalet and just fall asleep to the waves. Literally some of the best nights sleep we had in a long time. Romeo the owner was so kind and welcoming, he made us feel safe and provided wonderful service while we were there. The breakfast and dinner were both so good, cheap seafood and some of the best we've had in Asia! (been travelling for 4 years) Prices are really good too for what you get. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone who likes the quiet beach life away from everything.
Bilit
Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan.
This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries.
I cannot rate this place highly enough. Firstly the staff were the nicest bunch of people, who genuinely care that the guests have a great trip, and are passionate about the environment and the wildlife. Secondly, this is the only place in the area actually inside the jungle, rather than on the river. And that matters because you're much more likely to see an Orang utan in the wild staying here. We were lucky enough to see one, and the guys running the place were overjoyed for us. It was a truly breathtaking moment. And we saw monitor lizards and Hornbills causally wandering/ flying around.
The guys running the place could not do enough for us. Also the food was great, and included. Travel is quite a hobby for me, I have been travelling the world regularly for over 30 years now and I have stayed in a lot of places, from luxury hotels to eco-resorts etc. This rates as high as any experience I have had anywhere. I wish there were more places run this well and with this much passion in the world.

We came to see Orang Utangs in the wild, wishing not to disturb them in their homes and approach passively.
We got so much more. This camp is privately run by someone who keeps it natural rainforest and doesn't sell to someone making a palm oil farm from it. The people in this camp TRULY care about the rainforest, the animals, and their visitors. Main woman Linda makes sure you have absolutely everything you need at all times. Of course, you are in the middle of the jungle, so wifi only in the common area (but there is wifi in the middle of the jungle!) and there is no jaccuzi. But once you're over that it is 100% perfection!
A true rural jungle experience!
We stayed 3 nights and already saw the big 5 the second day!
Food was plenty, very very delicious with seafood and meat/ chicken/ and really exciting vegetarian options too!

The lodges are a great location in the jungle, but also a 25 minute walk to the beach. It's an interesting but also peaceful environment to spend a few days exploring the area. The beach walk recommend by Howard was amazing, it's like paradise!

Great location, nearby the orangutan rehabilitation center and Forest. Resort has wonderful walkways to spot wildlife and relax in the communal areas. We where able to visit nearby lodges for great food and atmosphere within a short walking distance too
The female dorm was great, comfortable & clean. The lodge is a short walk from all of the activities in Sepilok and they can help you reserve the Rainforest center night walk, which books up. The food in the restaurant was good and not as expensive as some of the other lodges in Sepilok.
Lodges were spacious cool clean and brand new bathrooms. Resort location is perfect. Much quieter than the other resorts.
Stayed one night. Rustic charming lodges with all facilities. Helpful staff, great lounge/restaurant sitting area. Can have a meal or a drink there and buy supplies of water etc. Fantastic location for Orangutan rehabilitation centre and Sun Bear centre both next door to each other 10 minutes walk from the property. No bags even small ones allowed in Orangutan centre but free lockers provided. Swimming pool closes at 17.30 Great jungle walkways around the site
Beautiful location, amazing lodges, lots of local wildlife all around us!
Perfect location for walking to the Rainforest Discover Centre and Orangutan Sanctuary. The complex is quite large with multiple lodges. The room was comfortable and large with AC and fan. The breakfast is okay and there is a restaurant which serves food until 8pm. You can pre order for eating after the RDC night safari.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. The lodges are situated within the Kinabalu park so you wake up to a breathtaking scenery of the mountain. It gets chilly in the evening and early morning. Our large king bed was super comfy. Breakfast was decent.
