United KingdomThe Bay Lodge was absolutely fantastic! It was everything and more. Anything you could possibly need was in the accommodation and the hosts couldn’t have done more for us. They booked any excursions we wanted to do and even baked delicious carrot cake for us to have with drinks whilst we were relaxing by the pool.

Filip and Sonya were fabulous hosts-very hospitable and generous with information and recommendations. The shuttle service to Abel Tasman made a day tramping in the park seamless. We enjoyed the accommodations so much we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay by one day. Pōhara is an excellent location for visiting the Golden Bay and I can’t recommend the Bay Lodge highly enough.

Fabulous staff, gorgeous rooms, so calm, quiet and tranquil. We paid a little more for the Luxury Room - very spacious, probably half again the size of the Deluxe. Only 10 rooms, room 10 being the only Luxury room. Ask for a higher room number to be a little more private and away from the (not busy) road.
The on-site restaurant was amazing, best duck I’ve ever had, and a perfect breakfast selection.
The staff though are the biggest asset of this lodge, so lovely, welcoming and accommodating.
It was very hard to leave.
