Breakfast was great - hand built to order with a lot of fresh and homemade ingredients. Sauna really helped after a day on the mountain. Grounds are beautiful and relaxing. Loved the sheep and alpacas.

The value for money at this hotel is fantastic. Of course, at this price you shouldn’t expect anything luxurious, but the Kings offers cleanliness, great comfort, and several unique features at an excellent rate. The room was very clean (10 out of 10 for cleanliness), the bed was super comfortable, and we had access to coffee, tea, hot chocolate, toiletries, among other conveniences. A great breakfast was also offered to us free of charge. The spa pool has a view of Ruapehu and is AMAZING! There’s also a cozy, warm pub with great food and drinks. I really want to go back to this place.

We like the bunkrooms great for the kids, and the ensuite is a bonus to have. Four-square and gas station close by. Great service from the owner, very friendly to talk to. Kids enjoyed the family and games room with the tv, ping pong set, and arcade game. Kept the kids busy!! The shared kitchen was great with all the equipment needed. Thank you for a great stay!!!

We came during the low season in June, and we really enjoyed our stay. The Lodge is well situated to hike in Tongariro National Park. We also really enjoyed the fact that the kitchen was well equipped! We wouldn’t hesitate going back!

The lodge is a lovely place with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a wonderful breakfast and the possibility of getting a packed lunch (recommended if you go hiking for the day, as there is only one small food truck at the foot of Tongariro). The garden is beautiful and the hosts are super friendly and helpful; when we couldn't do the Tongariro crossing because of high winds, Louis gave us great recommendations for an alternative hike.

We loved this place. The staff were so welcoming and thoughtful - an excellent B&B experience. Rooms were comfortable and lodge area was very comfortable. A delicious, home cooked breakfast was included. Finally, they place has a number of animals on premise and our hosts were very kind to let us pet some of the animals including, sheep, alpacas and a few Maine Coon cats!
