This is an incredible oasis set right in front of a little valley, with grassland and small ponds and hills with caves. It’s stunning in pictures, but even more breathtaking up close. The view from the pool is surreal, and it’s a treat to dine and drink outside. You’re a few kilometres away from town, which is great for disconnecting from the usual humdrum of shops and tourists. Huy took great care of us, helped book a reasonably priced boat tour, and made us feel right at home. Breakfast and the a la carte dinner of Vietnamese fare were both delicious. If you’re in Cat Ba, this is a great place to stay for a different experience than the usual.

The Homestay was lovely and spotless. Staff were wonderful and so helpful with booking a boat trip and transportation onward to Sapa. We liked the local but it was about a twenty minute walk to the waterfront where many of the cafes and restaurants are located. Great breakfast included and scooters available for rent.

Mit dem Roller kann man ganz easy alles erreichen auf der Insel und das Taxi vom Hotel ist auch perfekt. Bushaltestelle ist auch nur 1min zu Fuß entfernt.

The property is conveniently located very adjacent to many of the incredible sightseeing venues. It is extremely clean and there is always staff available to facilitate any of your needs. It is peaceful and quiet. It is set is on a large property surrounded by incredible gardens with a lovely pool just steps from the dinning area that flows organically right through it and throughout the property.

If you want to experience Cat Ba area and see the forest and the Bay, this is THE place to go. This is a wonderful little gem of a homestay away from the messy town of Cat Ba. Just getting to Viet Hai Village is already a treat as you get a beautiful boat ride through the bay. You can make this ride part of the day cruise or sunset cruise that the homestay organizes so be smart , reach out to them and make each ride a memorable souvenir. You are here to see the bay after all. We went for two nights and we were on the water all three days and also hiked ! The room is very comfortable, the food is good , the setting is unbelievable. Book all your meals with them. The settings is gorgeous with gardens and little places to sit and enjoy the surroundings . We recommend that you do the activities recommended by Chilly, the manager. We booked the sunset and kayak activity on the day we arrived so they picked us up in Cat Ba town directly around 3pm : a perfect intro to the place and then you are dropped off at the hotel direct so it takes care of ride as well. Another full day on the bay is worth it also. Then if you have three hours for an inland activity, go up Navy peak and see the caves close by : you get views on the Bay and a feel for the jungle around. Please note the hike is a bit of a scramble and goes straight up for 45 min to an hour so you need good shoes and be healthy. A bike ride on the island as also a must. Chilly will communicate with you right away and do not hesitate to ask what you have in mind and he will make it happen. For the return to Cat Ba town at the end of our trip, we took the “slow” ride instead of speed boat and this was another mini cruise going through floating village and by the monkey island so we highly recommend making the “to and from” the homestay part of enjoying the bay. Please note Cat Ba town is under major construction and is not attractive at the moment. Viet Hai is 1000 times better and away from all the mess. A gem!

The vibe in the place is so good. We booked for one night, but after seeing the place, we have extended for one more day. The price is very reasonable. Our host Son is very friendly and helpful. And most beautiful thing is that they have pets one dog and 3 cats. They are friendly and you feel loved. Overall we had a very beautiful experience. The property manager resides at the property, who is very knowledgeable and shares it with patience if you have time 😀
