LithuaniaKnowing that this is a “love hotel” and having read some previous reviews from foreign guests, we weren’t quite sure what to expect (or even if we’d be able to check in at all, since it says you need to call the hotel upon arrival to local Japanese phone number AND speak Japanese! :)).
However, everything turned out much better than we expected! Before arriving and again just after we got there, we sent a message to the hotel through Booking.com — and we were warmly welcomed by a member of staff. He spoke only Japanese, but with today’s translation apps, that’s really not a problem anymore. He kindly explained the rules and showed us to our room.
Yes, once you enter, the door is locked from the outside — but that was totally fine for us. The hotel is located outside the town, so there isn’t really anywhere to go after you arrive in the evening anyway. (And you can even order food and drinks directly to your room!)
The room itself was very spacious, warm, and quiet. The bed was huge and super comfortable, and there was even a massage chair! We slept wonderfully and couldn’t believe we paid just over 50 euros for such a great stay!
If we ever visit this area again, this hotel will definitely be our first choice.
