The staff were so lovely and helpful; the breakfasts were beautiful and a true work of art; the personal onsen in the room was such a great experience; the lounge downstairs with local wines and sake on tap. They’d truly thought of everything to make our stay special, including Aesop products, pajamas and a speaker to enjoy our time in the room.

The room itself was very spacious, traditional Japanese style with tatami flooring. Felt very authentic and made you feel close to the nature. The staff was wonderful. The reception was very welcoming, lending us umbrellas when it was raining. Another thing that left a big impression was the food and the kitchen staff. We got both dinner and breakfast and were surprised by how kind and engaging the servers were, not to mention the food was incredible. The only regret was not staying here longer.

We had a great view of the garden from our balcony. The private onsen was the icing on the cake. It was the most relaxing thing, we used it 4 times during our one day stay. All in all, I was looking for a traditional Japanese experience and Matsusaki did not disappoint.

We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day.
