It is just a 3min drive from the Iya valley vine bridge. But the hotel itself is a destination worth visiting itself. The onsen were superb. Well maintained with a quaint funicular train up the hill to the open air onsen that had great views of the mountains. Food was good quality. I particularly liked the multiple methods of preparing the ayu (river fish). The room itself was a very comfortable and quite newly renovated tatami room with all the typical ryokan amenities. Staff were not just polite but friendly and welcoming. English and Mandarin both spoken here - so that is very helpful for travelers.

Pacifico Surf House Mountain is one of the best accommodations we had on our trip. The mini house is very well and thoughtfully constructed. As is almost always the case in Japan, all the utensils such as hairdryers, shower gel, toothbrushes etc. are provided. These are of particularly high quality (eco/organic) here. The beds under the roof are very comfortable and you sleep excellently. To fall asleep, you can watch the stars through the skywindow. The surroundings are very quiet. Everything is quiet, so you can relax on the terrace. Ryota, the owner, offers free bicycles that are great for exploring the area. If you want, you can also book surfing and stand-up paddle with Ryota. The water is perfect for this and still warm enough at the end of October.

Super Hotel Anan Tomioka bevindt zich op 2,6 km van Strand Kitanowaki en 25 km van station Tokushima, en heeft kamers in Anan. Friendly staff. Great value for money. Loved the six hours of self service drinking with a great selection of alcoholic beverages. The included buffet breakfast was well above expectations. The natural hot spring bath was wonderful too!

Hotel Iya Onsen biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de veranderende seizoenen in de Iya-vallei en beschikt over accommodatie in Japanse stijl en natuurlijke warmwaterbronnen. Springs were spectacular. Room with deck was enjoyable.

Bit outdated but that’s exactly what you’ll get in the middle of nowhere. However, staff, food and hot spring is nice and nearby river is a good place to go for BBQ in summer. If you are looking for place where the time stops, this is where you want to go.
