This charming Gite just outside of Plenee-Jugon (about 5 minutes by car) was everything we could have asked for. The gite is VERY rural, in a little settlement of only 5 properties. As a result it is exceptionally quiet and relaxing. The gite had everything we needed for self catering - a good selection of cooking utensils, pots, pans etc. We especially liked that towels / tea-towels, toilet rolls and a selection of basic cleaning & washing up materials were included so we didn't have to go out and buy these. There's a good size Intermarche Contact in Plenee-Jugon, and if you want something bigger or budget there are LeClerc & Intermarche Hypermarkets, and a Lidl in Lamballe (20 mins drive). St Brieuc is close enough for a visit, alomg with additional shopping in Dinan (we always take a visit to Action) and we love the beach at Pleuneuf-Val-Andre, and there are some nice restaurants / brasseries to choose from (tip: avoid those directly on the beach, and try those in the road behind to avoid over the top beach restaurant prices. Janet (Gite host) is happy to give restaurant recommendations (which was handy for us as we wanted to eat out on a Wednesday evening and she knew what would be open and what wouldn't) Yes the wifi is a little slow, but I think people forget they're staying in rural france, so you're never going to get fibre connection speeds. When the winds aren't blowing a gust / it's raining cats and dogs, the Gite has very good 4g mobile internet service and we found this sufficed for all of our needs (we're lucky to still have free data roaming on our mobiles post brexit). If you don't, pick up a 4g travel sim either before you go or when you arrive. We were visiting family who live locally, and they were also impressed with the Gite, and will be sharing the details with other family members as will we.
