There are places that you look around and can't belive. open air bath is one of them. ,to sit in hot water and look at the view in early morning and in the afternoon is piece of art as part of Echigo collection, not less

Old house with not simply vintage style but real details. Love all the furniture and the wood stove at first sight. Nobu welcomed us with some nice herbal tea. She speaks fluent English and we had some nice conversations. She also recommended and gave us a ride to a nice public bath. What we cherished most is the special visit to Mr. Kawanaka, the local artist. It’s our pleasure to meet him and appreciate his artwork. Truly memorable journey. Thank you!

Amasing place with gentle owners, nice and cute japanese vintage style, bright rooms with yukatas, beautiful onsen space with clear hot water, near the nature with excellent connection with City Center by bus or walking, big 7/11 convenient store near. The hospitality of this place is an absolute 10/10. The place is run by a friendly married couple. We were a bit early and they welcomed us and had our room, ready for us to use. We checked in fast and we went to the Tsunan Snow Festival, we came in back late at around 10pm and the wife greeted us and made sure we knew where the facilities were. The next day, we had a traditional Japanese breakfast and that breakfast is still the best traditional breakfast we have throughout the trip to Japan. The husband explained to us, that the rice was grown by him or his family (we were using language translate apps to communicate). We also had a friendly conversation about where we come from and our trip to Japan. This place completely blew all expectations that we had. We expected this to be just a pit stop on our car journey north (did I mention they have plenty of parking?) but it ended up being a place and a memory that we will never forget.

Li was a very friendly host. She took time to welcome us and explain everything about the property. The place was extremely comfortable (all new) and made us feel at home immediately. We recommend staying and would enjoy to come back. The location is great to take a walk by the river and go skiing in winter.

The owner was the kindest person I have ever met. We went to this hotel with a small group of friends as we were participating in a spartan race taking place in the vicinity. The owner offered to give us a free shuttle service to go from the Echigo yuzawa station to the hotel upon arrival (for both groups that arrived at a different time), as well as from the hotel to the spartan race location and back the next day. He also allowed us to come back to the hotel to have a shower after the race, after our check-out time and free of charge. He finally also gave a ride to the station again. This was a life saver given the state we were in after the race. This is probably the best service I've ever seen in my life. The room was a nice Japanese style room for 3 people, with shared bathrooms for the floor, but there are enough stalls that this is absolutely not a problem. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in a cozy little room and just to meet the amazing person the owner is.

The staff were very kind and helpful. They picked us up at Echigo Yuzawa station when we arrived and kindly gave us lift back to the station when our trip was over. They also gave us a lift to the Ishiuchi trains station when needed. They answered all our questions and helped us booking taxis. The ryokan is very well mantained and has wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The breakfast has plenty of good options. The ofuro and the onsen are small but comfortable. All in all a very nice ryokan.
