We cherished every moment at this truly eco-friendly lodge nestled in the heart of a jungle by a serene lake. The owners built the house themselves, minimizing impact on nature while infusing it with utmost love.

The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

Amazing owner, family business with a lot of hapiness and amazing service. Safari they organise is top quality. Would recommend to eat in their restaurant, absolutely great (non spicy) Sri Lankan curries. There is an amazing home spa nearby, organized by locals, in case you arrive in the afternoon and want to relax right away. There is a printed paper in the room with their contact information. I would definitely recommend going as a couple (same time treatments possible).

We loved our stay at Rustic Cottages. This accommodation has only been established a short time yet is run so professionally. Communication was outstanding from the outset. They organised our safari tour which was excellent. We saw so much wildlife. The cottages are beautifully appointed and set in a lovely tropical garden. Aircon and hot water were plentiful. The bed was very comfortable and top notch linens. There were thoughtful touches like international adapters. The breakfasts were a treat. We opted for the traditional Sri Lankan breakfasts and they were delicious. We also chose to eat our dinners at Rustic Cottages and were pleased we did. Some of the best food we’ve eaten. There was parking for our tuktuk. This is a great accommodation and I highly recommend it. Sandeep is the consummate host and we are really pleased to have experienced such wonderful hospitality.

Leels safari cottage, a pocket of paradise. we spontaneously booked our stay here for 2 nights in hopes to do a safari. We’ve been travelling Sri Lanka for over a month now and I can say this has been the nicest place we have stayed at. The pictures are exactly like the place which we were so pleased about, the room its self is beautiful, comfortable beds, beautiful layout and decoration with the blessing of air con and a fan. They also supply mosquito nets, this was the first place we weren’t bitten once! As for the bathroom it’s wonderful, full of plants with an rainforest vibe. It’s all so clean and well stocked with a kettle, wardrobe, shelf’s and great mirrors. The attention to detail is amazing you can tell a lot of love and hard work has been put into this place. The lighting is lovely giving it a cosy feel. We had breakfast included and added on dinner for both nights as the food was too good! Cooked by the loveliest ladies who do everything they can to make sure you’re happy. So much selection for both breakfast and dinner really yummy and enjoyable. It’s the perfect place to relax but also seek adventure. We woke up early one morning to go for a run, the area is lovely everybody smiles and says hello. and the views are really beautiful with thriving nature. We went to an elephant orphanage near by, luckily they know people for transport etc and Leel suggested this activity for us, we didn’t know about this place prior our visit! But so glad we went it was amazing! Our second day was Safari day, we were delighted that Leel himself is one of the greatest safari tour drivers, so we set off early in the morning and embarked on our safari around Udawalawe. I know it will be one of my favourite memories we are really grateful for Leel and his dedication to make sure we had the best time and see as many beautiful animals as possible! This place is absolutely incredible. I'd honestly live here. Anju and his family were so welcoming and helpful. They had welcome drinks on arrival and after our safari which he organised, which was lovely. Breakfast and dinner were amazing! There was so much food, I couldn't eat it all, they even lit candles for dinner. The cottages themselves are absolutely stunning. They have been done to such a gorgeous standard and so many little details like beautiful light fixtures, natural shower as well as a hot one in the bathroom, washing line, gorgeous decor, and all the wooden furniture is lovely. They are just finishing their third cabin which will sleep three, Anju gave me a tour of it and it will be lovely.

they have professional cook so all meals was tasty and delicious and stuff are friendly and kind . the room was clean . the environment was quiet so you can relax , their location is near national park so you can go safari easily ,they arrange safari tour for us.

The staff were lovely. The pool was the most clean and nicest we have been in. It was very peaceful. The rooms were very modern and clean. They were very attentive and able to make changes to meals for dietary reasons. Would recommend 10/10.
