My family (including teenage boys) and I had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming and produced a delicious supper and breakfast for us. We were positively surprised by the beautiful setting - if I could post some photos on this site, I definitely would! The property is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, wonderful fruit trees around the back and amazing spices, as well as a luscious green paddy field, all of which the host kindly showed us. The property is opposite a very pretty river and not far from the Gal Oya lake safari start. Would definitely recommend!

With lake views, Gal Oya Lake Club is situated in Paraganakele and has a restaurant, a concierge service, bar, garden, sun terrace and year-round outdoor pool.

It is new and well designed. Only four rooms now available. Two different types. I would say that is one of the best during my stay in Sri Lanka. Owner may organize jeep and boat safari if you contact them in advance.

Charitha Rest provides an open-air bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Ampara. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay.

It's a very good place to stay in my favourite spot in all of Sri Lanka. The room was well ventilated and clean, they had a nice common area, gorgeous and quiet garden and over the top service. Worth every Rs.

Nice place in a sleepy village at the gates of Gal Oya National Park. The owners are very friendly and will help you in everything you need. Good knowledge of the local fauna, in particular birds. A good opportunity to taste the real Sri Lanka, away from the crowds in Ella or other tourist spots.

You'll love staying here! We arrived after a long and stressful drive by tuktuk and felt instantly at home! The hosts organized everything for us and were very helpful and caring. Great value for money! If we ever come back to Ampara, we'll definitely stay there again.

This was honestly one of the most welcoming and thoughtful places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, Sydney and his team looked after us so well. The chef asked what we fancied and was very accommodating. He cooked the most amazing curry, lunch and honey hoppers for breakfast (which we were introduced to and absolutely loved). They even gave us a packed lunch for our elephant boat safari, which they organised, along with a great driver. There were little extra touches that made such a different, like beers in the fridge when we arrived (and they went to get more when we ran out), a cooking class with a local family, a really interesting forest walk with an indigenous guide and when we asked if we could do some laundry they sorted it for us with no trouble at all. The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet spot with amazing Mountain View’s, a perfect place to switch off. Would highly recommend supporting this amazing project. Such a great experience 😊😊

The hotel is located off the beaten track and has a strong focus on sustainability. We did two safaris (Boat Tour in Gal Oya NP and a little stroll in the afternoon). We've learned a lot about nature, the community and the country from the friendly naturalists who guide the tours and who work for for the hotel. It was a great experience and one of our highlights in Sri Lanka!

The lodge is amazing!! Sooo beautiful in the middle of a hidden gem national park. Fantastic big comfortable huts, beautiful open dining room, nice pool, in the middle of nature. The naturalist guide, Lucky, was absolutely amazing. He gave us the passion for birds and we had great meeting with an elephant during the safari lunch. We made also the walk with the indigenous Veddha. All so friendlz and so few tourists and so not commercial…
