The food was outstanding - the best we had in Sri Lanka! The staff were welcoming and attentive - nothing was too much trouble for the butler, Mogu. The accommodation is outstanding - private, comfortable, impecable. We went on four half-day safaris, including one to block 1 and one to Bundalla, and had an incredible time. It was the highlight of our two week Sri Lankan holiday. Our guide, Kithmee, was a pleasure to spend time with. She was knowledgable, passionate and personable. She took time to get to know us, our interests and priorities, and our other experiences in Sri Lanka. Then she worked hard to optimise and customise our experience. She was so genuinely excited for us when we got to see the animals on our bucket list - and we got to see them all.

One of my favourite stays surprisingly. We stayed just for the safari but this place was really great. The staff were so nice and you really felt like you got to know them. The food was good with quite a wide range of options. But the best part was simply the location. You are really right out in the middle of the rice fields and the views and peacefulness of the place were so great. Bring a book and just hang out on the grounds watching the fields.

your room is its own out building with a lovely big bed and en-suite. All toiletries are provided in the bathroom, and you have a lovely terrace outside with sun loungers to enjoy the peace and quite. the staff are amazing and do everything they can for you. they provided us with taxi service by collecting us from Ella, and then dropping us to Hikkaduwa after the safari day for very good rates. the safari was amazing, and we saw all the animals possible in Yala including Sloth bears and Leopards. 10/10 would recommend

I had the pleasure of staying at Farm Villa Resort in Katharagama for two nights, and it was a wonderful and memorable experience from start to finish! 🌿 From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and heartfelt. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything. Special mention to the front office team – truly a gem in hospitality! The room was spacious, the bathroom was very big, and the overall comfort . The clean and inviting swimming pool was perfect for cooling off and relaxing in the serene atmosphere. What makes Farm Villa Resort truly special is its beautiful location surrounded by nature. The resort is set amidst lush paddy fields, and there's a charming little lake flowing through the property, creating a peaceful, scenic environment ideal for rest and reflection. I enjoyed walking through the paddy fields, listening to the birds in the mornings, and even got to pick fresh fruits from the garden! 🍌🌾 It's also conveniently located – just a short walk to the sacred Kirivehera and Katharagama Dewalaya, making it perfect for both pilgrims and nature lovers.One of the biggest highlights was the full-day Yala Safari arranged by the hotel – an absolutely amazing adventure! 🐘🦁 We saw incredible wildlife, and everything was perfectly organized with a knowledgeable guide.The food was another standout. I stayed one night at GoYala Hostel, and I booked a shared dorm room. Even though it was a dorm, it turned out no one else was there that night, so it was really quiet. The room itself was super clean—like, really spotless—and everything from the bathroom and shower to the beds, tables, and chairs was well-maintained. The cooler worked great too. The hostel had this really nice garden-like, villa-style atmosphere, which was super charming. Plus, there was a small lake right in front of the hostel that added a really nice view. The only thing to keep in mind is that it’s a bit out in a rural area, so it might feel a bit remote. One important tip: Google Maps tends to show the wrong route near the hostel, leading to kind of a dead end. So when you're getting close, definitely call the hostel owner or manager to guide you through the correct way. In my case, I made a late-night reservation and the young manager was super helpful. He even came out on a motorbike late at night to show my driver the right path. He was really attentive and made sure everything was smooth for my arrival. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this hostel too!
