1. Exceptional hosts The hosts of Tamarind were truly fantastic. Extremely friendly, great hospitality and you can really sense how much they care for the well-being of their guests. They gave us so much assistance in how to move around Ayutthaya and beyond (there were bus and train schedules nicely displayed on the wall), what places should be at the top of our list, (recommended the boat tour which was very nice!) and food recommendations (also prominently displayed!). They were there to provide "first aid" in the form of congee for my travelling companion who had a bout of indigestion and some OTC medicines too. Even though our lodging did not include food, we were still provided with good coffee, toast and cakes! Koy is a wonderful baker - if you are lucky, you may get to try her banana and coconut cake! Yumz! 2. Great location Just across the road from Wat Mahathat so we were the first persons into this site and were able to spend time there before the crowds came in. Also just a very short walk to the night market which is ultra-convenient. 3. Clean rooms with good functioning air-conditioning - lovely to come back to after time out in the hot weather in Ayutthaya.

The staff are very attentive, but only when they understand you so rhe Restaurant is letdown by the lack of English speakers so the wrong thing turns up Regularly at breakfast The breakfast offered however is fabulous and beautifully presented …once they understand what you want and that is a challenge. The design of the restaurant like the rest of the hotel is beautiful and it has a wonderful spot overlooking the river. Dinner, is expensive and it certainly not the best food in the area but you would need to take a taxi or have a hire car to go anywhere else as the hotel is literally a tiny island in the middle of a confluence of two very gentle rivers …. which is rather wonderful when you stay here We hired a car to get anywhere but the one occasion when I took a taxi I spent 30 minutes going in a circle on a magical round trip because the directions that I had given to Reception were not conveyed correctly to the taxi driver who spoke no English and could not read Thai. I never reached my destination and had to return to the hotel Again misunderstanding of English was a recurrent theme at this hotel I recommend if you stay here to download the LINE app and request anything you want in writing on the line app as that seemed to have a better result, but of course you can’t use that in the hotel restaurant This is nothing to take away from the intention of the staff to help you as much as possible, but it’s just difficult when they don’t understand anything you’re saying and they don’t tell you when they don’t understand you. I did use Google translate so that they could read it in Thai, but I think some of the staff can’t read in Thai so that doesn’t really help either. The response from Reception when using the LINE app was exceptionally good 👏👏👏 Diana in particular at Reception should be highly praised and the owners of this hotel are lucky to have her

Clean, quiet, modern with vintage vibe. Extremely close to many of the towns fascinating and beautiful heritage sites. Convenience store metres away, also close to Wednesday night markets. The hosts were exceptional at assisting with transport arrangement and directions. The al fresco garden cafe on the canal is absolutely stunning, and a great place to have breakfast at the start of your day. The chocolate frappe is heavenly!

We were a family of 3 and stayed 2 nights at Cattani Riverside Home, though in all sense of the word it felt more like an intimate resort. There are 3 well appointed rooms set amidst a very lush and manicured garden, looking over the river. We had the Japanese themed room, the standard room and vey well put together. A lot of effort and details had gone into making the stay comfortable - from the fluffy towels, to the soft linens to the extremely comfortable bed that we didn't want to get out of. We had the best sleep. Nana and Bryan were just the perfect host, generous with their time, advise and even food. Nana couldn't stop trying to feed us.....We had Thai food in their restaurant on the first night, Needless to say the food was great. I saw the pork rib she put together for a huge crowd the following day and they looked amazing too.

The best hostel I have been to! It feels like being home, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the house is super clean (even bed sheets have an amazing smell!). The owners are helpful and friendly, always smiling. Dinner is delicious, freshly cooked every night and a nice moment to share with other travellers. Highly recommended!

Peaceful and beautiful surroundings, tucked away in a quiet spot yet just minutes from Ayutthaya’s main attractions. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the stay even more enjoyable. Having a MuvMi pickup point right at the entrance was super convenient, and the restaurant across the street turned out to be one of the best meals I had in Thailand. A perfect place to stay — highly recommended!
